There is a certain kind of unforeseen pressure when it comes to playing the game. One must handle the ball, run an offense effectively, score efficiently, distribute the rock in a timely manner, communicate, defend, and much more. They are an extension of the coaching staff, and one must see what an opponent is playing and how they are playing it. They must adjust. Adapt. Make the right calls, reads, and execute. Having a dynamic point guard as such can make a world of difference.

Obviously, we all know there are different types of PGs. Also, you may know that a PG must be smart, able to change pace, and really go above and beyond the call of duty. Some get more glory than others because they may score more; however, a PG is one of the most effective players on the floor. Any PG for me has to be someone I can trust. You've got to control the pace of the game and execute all assignments. In the 28 class, we have a lot of PGs that can do that and then some. It's like this class is littered with trustworthy liutenants that can get the job done. Every one of them brings a certain value to their club. It's their time to shine this year, and I guarantee that if they haven't been getting recruited, their time is coming.

I wanted to dive a little deeper into the ‘28 PG class and highlight some overlooked PGs. Check out a few that come to mind when thinking about this 2028 class.

This kid is a tough competitor. A true difference maker, this young lady controls the game and dictates the pace of play. She distributes the ball effectively, can penetrate to finish or kick, and when it's time to get a bucket, she knows her spots to get to so she can score. Yes, she is a three-level scoring threat, but she brings so much more to the table. Her teammates feed off her energy, and she hustles on every possession. Don't let her size fool you; she is a go-getter that really sets the tone. A trustworthy ballplayer who will be a solid addition at the next level for a club looking for a heady floor general.

She may be short in stature, but she is mighty. This kid is a dawg on the defensive end. Picking up 94 ft, she is going to make the opposition work for everything they have. Playing with such energy, she wreaks havoc, leading to easy transition buckets. In the half-court on the offensive end, she can slice through defenses and attract attention. She can finish at the rim or drain the 3. This kid is effective and has continued to grow her game. Look for her to have a breakout year and help her club reach new heights.

Ms. Reliable. This young lady gets after it. She knows how to use her body in tight spaces and is effective both in open space and within the confines of an offense. She can score from all three levels. I love her ability to change pace and quickly get into a shooting motion. She is a scoring threat from many spots, but don't sleep on her defense. She heads across town to a new school, and I expect her to bring it right from the start. She is a solid prospect that is going to turn some heads. Fundamentally sound, look for her to uplift her new squad as they get after it.

She can score the rock in multiple ways, but what really stands out is her defense. Talk about someone who creates chaos; this young lady has quick lateral movement and can open up to cut off someone at the drop of a dime. Speed is the name of her game, and she utilizes it to her advantage on both ends of the floor. She's a solid scorer from multiple spots on the floor, can facilitate the rock effectively, but the defensive side of the game is her bread and butter. Look for her to star in her role and help Bartlett back to state contention.

One kid who may get overlooked because of her height, but she is as effective as they come. A true leader, one who gives her team an edge, she can handle the right, distribute through tight windows, compete on the defensive end, and really get after it. She has great speed. A competitor. One who is going to give teams fits in how she moves. She can score off the dribble or spot up and shoot, but her true strength is her use of speed. This kid is solid, and every year the Kirkwood program gets better with her around. This program is on the rise, and Ms. Harris is right along with them. Look for her to continue growing and help KHS take one step closer to its goals.
