Young Standouts Emerge at Northwood Elite Camp

Northwood hosted an Elite Camp that brought together a talented group of players for a day filled with skill development, competition, and learning. The Northwood coaching staff led campers through a variety of skill drills before putting those skills to work in competitive 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 action, creating plenty of opportunities for players to showcase their abilities. The Northwood players coached the teams throughout the camp, giving them a front-row look at the campers' effort, skill, and overall game. While the camp featured players from several classes, a number of the younger prospects took advantage of the opportunity to compete against older players and showed they belong on the floor. Here are some of the young standouts who caught my attention at the Northwood Elite Camp.    Julia was one of the youngest players at the Northwood Elite Camp, but she certainly didn't look out of place competing against older players. The 2030 guard showed confidence from beyond the arc during both 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 action, knocking down threes and proving she can stretch the floor. Julia also showed a strong defensive presence with active hands that led to steals. She ran the floor hard in transition and was rewarded with a bucket, while also showing her ability to attack the basket with a nice slash and finish during 3-on-3 play. Her willingness to compete up in age and make plays on both ends made Julia one of the young standouts who caught my attention at camp.     Sophie was another one of the youngest players at the Northwood Elite Camp, and the 2030 guard showed she was ready for the challenge of competing against older players. During 5-on-5 action, she displayed a versatile scoring touch by knocking down both a mid-range jumper and a shot from beyond the arc. Sophie also stayed active on the defensive end, competing hard and making her presence felt against more experienced players. Her confidence and willingness to compete up in age made her one of the young players who caught my attention at camp.     Vanessa was one of the 2029 guards who caught my attention at the Northwood Elite Camp with her ability to consistently knock down shots. She was on fire during the drill work, connecting on multiple three-pointers and showing a smooth touch on mid-range jumpers. Vanessa carried that confidence into 5-on-5 play, where she continued to knock down shots from beyond the arc and proved she could be a reliable perimeter scoring option in game action. Her shooting consistency from all three levels made her one of the young standouts at camp.     Izzy was one of the 2029 guards who stood out at the Northwood Elite Camp with her length, athleticism, and ability to score in different ways. During 3-on-3 action, she knocked down a three-pointer and showed toughness by finishing through contact at the basket. In 5-on-5 play, Izzy connected on a tough turnaround jumper that was difficult for defenders to contest, while continuing to show her versatility around the rim. She finishes well with either hand and does a great job maintaining her balance and body control when attacking the basket. Her combination of size, athleticism, and scoring ability made Izzy one of the young prospects who caught my attention at camp.     Olivia was one of the 2029 guards who caught my attention at the Northwood Elite Camp with her speed and ability to impact the game on both ends. During 5-on-5 action, she pushed the pace in transition and delivered a great pass to a teammate for a scoring opportunity. Olivia also competed with plenty of toughness on the defensive end, using her quickness to stay in front of opponents and make things difficult for them. Her speed, unselfish play, and defensive intensity made her one of the young guards who stood out at camp.
