695Hoops Fall League Report: Week 3

Week three of the 695 Hoops Fall League featured several intriguing matchups while showcasing some of the Baltimore area's top talent. With games taking place at three different locations, I decided to set up camp at Pikesville High School for the day. There was plenty of talent on display, with several players delivering standout performances. Here are some of the top players who caught my attention during week three.    Naomi is an athletic point guard with good size, vision, and shooting range. She knocked down threes from well beyond the arc with consistent form and showed the ability to stretch the defense. Off the dribble, she attacked the basket on a tight line while keeping her eyes up, allowing her to recognize teammates freeing up as the defense collapsed. She played under control, made good reads, and showed a nice balance between creating for herself and others. Overall, Naomi delivered a solid performance in a hard-fought two-point loss to St. Timothy's School.     Brooklyn put on an impressive shooting display, knocking down six three-pointers on her way to a game-high 20 points. She connected from beyond the arc in every quarter and showed the ability to make shots even with defenders closely contesting her. Brooklyn also took excellent care of the basketball, finishing the game without a turnover. Defensively, she stayed active and engaged, applying pressure on the ball and competing on that end of the floor. Her defensive effort, combined with her deep shooting range, confidence, and ball security, allowed her to make an impact on both ends throughout the game.     Kahlan made her presence felt immediately, knocking down back-to-back three-pointers to start the game for St. Timothy's. She showed confidence from beyond the arc and the range to be a consistent perimeter threat. Kahlan continued to find opportunities from deep and led her team in scoring, with all of her points coming from three-point range. Her outside shooting was an important factor in St. Timothy's pulling out a hard-fought two-point victory.     Braylin, a freshman, was impressive playing with the poise of a seasoned veteran while directing the McDonogh offense. She showed an excellent mid-range game, using a smooth pull-up jumper and soft touch to score from multiple spots on the floor. Braylin handled the ball with confidence, controlled the pace, and displayed strong leadership from the point guard position. She also showed good range by knocking down the three, giving her a well-rounded offensive game.     Emman is a long, athletic freshman with the raw ability to impact the game on both ends. She is an exceptional shot blocker who affects nearly every attempt in the lane with her length and athleticism. At times, she swats at shots and picks up unnecessary fouls when simply staying vertical and using her length would be enough to alter the attempt. Offensively, her skill set is still developing, but she showed a soft touch at the free-throw line and on her turnaround jumper. As her skills and defensive discipline continue to develop, Emman has the potential to become one of the premier interior players in the DMV.
