Top Performance of the Day:

[player_tooltip player_id='324542' first='JaNyia' last='Cunningham'] - South Pointe HS (Rock Hill)

Cunningham was great down in the paint for the Lady Stallions here today. Cunningham just goes to work every game with a great work ethic. She HUSTLES down every rebound with her relentless attitude on the glass. She finished with 27 points and 22 rebounds in the win over Forest Hills HS (NC) today. JaNyia runs the floor and seals off defenders to receive the ball down low. No ball is ever out of her reach with her determination and work ethic. JaNyia constantly delivers results in the paint area.

She brings full EFFORT at all times and was even more impressive she does it in the layup line during warm-ups. She doesn't scream and yell and show off for attention. JaNyia brings results game in and game out with her work ethic on the floor.

Class of 2028:

This Class of 2028 looks to be a good one here in South Carolina. The rankings for this class won't debut until Mid-March 2025. Currently over 80 kids sit in the database and looking to add a few more during the regular season. Some names for sure to make a debut in the rankings will be [player_tooltip player_id='429828' first='Kaleigh' last='Lucas'], [player_tooltip player_id='897294' first='Aaliyah' last='Woodham'], [player_tooltip player_id='925570' first='Terrahjah' last='Robinson'], [player_tooltip player_id='1121272' first='Reagan' last='Rivers'] and [player_tooltip player_id='831269' first='Ailema' last='Land'] all here in the Palmetto State.

Lucas a point guard scored 18 points in a win over Forest Hills (NC). Kaleigh is a crafty and shifty ball-handler who can get the ball to the rack quite easily. She is quick end to end and playing 94 feet. At times Kaleigh seems to be one step ahead of her teammates with decision making.

Woodham continues to impress us here at Prep Girls Hoops with her play for the Darlington Lady Falcons. Aaliyah is very efficient with her play and shot selection at all times. She scores all of her buckets going to the basket as 2-pointers. She finished with 14 points in win over McBee HS today.

Robinson and Rivers are the future of Chesterfield HS Lady Rams basketball for Head Coach Nick Jolly. Robinson is a small guard who rarely leaves the floor. Terrahjah settles for a lot of jumpers on the perimeter. Rivers a left-handed forward looks to be growing still as her father stands 6-foot-8. Reagan plays the game with a lot of emotion, and she seems to be at her best around the bucket. She does feel comfortable looking to play from the elbow in at times.

Land has a bit of an old school game it seems. She really looks to overpower defenders at times to the basket with her physical play. The left-handed Land is just another piece to this very talented Lady Stallions team and Head Coach Stephanie Butler-Graham.

[player_tooltip player_id='1120420' first='Derrianna' last='McLendon'], [player_tooltip player_id='1120418' first='Layla' last='Rushing'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1120417' first='Janiyah' last='Quiller'] all be names you will be hearing more of down the road in the 2028 Class. McLendon and Rushing both play at Forest Hills HS (Marshville, NC) while Quiller attends Evans HS (Evans, GA).

McLendon is a very good athlete who tends to play bigger than her size. She was most effective going to the bucket and slashing to the cup. She really rebounds the ball well from her position. She finished with 15 points in the loss to South Pointe HS today.

Rushing a wing player with already good size is going to be a good one down the road for Head Coach Brandon Rains. Layla has good length and isn't afraid to take a charge at times.

Quiller a left-handed point guard likes to push the ball up the floor. Janiyah wants to play the game at 94 feet. She really does a nice job of surveying the floor at all times.

Out of State Top Performers:

[player_tooltip player_id='541427' first='Chabria' last='Tate'] - Evans HS (Evans, GA)

Tate came into the contest averaging 27.3 ppg this season for the Lady Knights. Chabria finished with 21 points in a win over Hartsville HS. Chabria really shows how to use a good jump stop - euro move to the basket and score the rock. She has a very good overall skill set. Chabria touches the paint and gets the ball into the gaps at will it seems. She can score the ball from all 3 levels on the floor with her ability to make jump shots. Chabria delivered through contact on the way to the rack. She worked in several mid-range jumpers and floaters today.

The Lady Knights are currently (12-1) on the season after winning in the first round at the Lugoff Chevrolet GMC Buick Christmas Class at Chesterfield HS.

[player_tooltip player_id='1120421' first='Leyah' last='Melton'] - Forest Hills HS (Marshville, NC)

Melton is a point guard for the Lady Jackets. Melton finished with 20 points in a loss to South Pointe HS. Leyah showed a nice mid-range game with her ability to score the ball at the rim. She never looked to force her shot and really played with good body control.

[player_tooltip player_id='1121273' first='Camille' last='McAlister'] and [player_tooltip player_id='445531' first='Autumn' last='Joseph'] - Darlington HS

McAlister really came and played today for the Lady Falcons in an opening round victory. Camile collected several steals on her way to scoring easy layups in transition. She finished with 22 points in the win today.

Joseph plays her best basketball around the bucket patrolling the paint. Autumn has soft hands to catch anything thrown in her direction. She does a nice job of getting position down low on the block and receiving the entry pass. Autumn didn't need to score much today in an easy opening round win.

[player_tooltip player_id='562109' first='Naomi' last='House'] - McBee HS

House and her teammates didn't have much luck in their opening round game. Naomi plays her best basketball inside the paint and collecting putbacks and rebounds. She has to do a little bit of everything at times here for the Lady Panthers. The small Class 1A program was no match for the Darlington HS Lady Falcons here today. Naomi really shows to have a nice touch from the foul line. She can step out to the elbow and short corner at times and be successful with her jumper.
