Expert Analysis
Brandon Bradley | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Mary is coming off of a strong showing in the Class 3A State Championship game, where she helped Bellmont to the title. She is a physical player, for sure, but while a lot of people call her a post, I think she’s much more active & skilled, and she’s more of a true “power” forward. Mary is constantly moving around. When she does post, it’s long enough to receive the ball, and if she doesn’t get it, she’s on the move again. She’s an active and physical rebounder/defender, plus she’s a nice multilevel scorer as a face-up ‘4’. She should have a ton of elite small college interest this Spring.

CO-CLASS 3A MVP: Something I hate doing is awarding “co-” anything, but I felt like in this situation, Mary and Ashley (above) were equally important to the flow of the game and the success of the Lady Braves. Mary was strong inside, battling on the boards, defending with physicality, and limiting Roncalli to just 8 offensive rebounds. Mary also posted a double-double, scoring 12 points and collecting 12 rebounds (5 offensive). She also blocked a shot and was a real presence in other ways in the paint for Bellmont.

Another player who is long and athletic, able to defend both inside and out. Able to hit the short range floater in the paint. Excellent on the boards, can turn a miss into points with her offensive rebounding. Has a nose for the ball, does the little things for her team.
