It is common knowledge to believe that the high school basketball calendar only exists from November to March. But in a state as passionate about hoops as this one, that is far from the case.

We may still be several months out from the tip of the 2025-26 season – and even before then we have fall sports such as volleyball and football to get through first.

But from AAU to June's camp month, there is plenty of activity in the hoops realm of the Hoop State. That, of course, includes plenty of updates on who is being recruited where and if anyone has made commitment announcements.

Without further ado, here is the latest from the recruiting trail.

We begin with a commitment announcement. Schindler is one of North Carolina's premier prospects playing for one of North Carolina's premier teams in Marvin Ridge which will embark on its 7A journey this coming season. The Mavericks were 24-6 last season. Schindler recently made her commitment announcement as she will take her talents to the Spiders of Richmond in 2026. She is a two-sport athlete who also partakes in softball alongside her basketball achievements. Schindler had plenty of suitors which included American, George Washington, Cleveland State and Boston University. Schindler has spent her final season on the grassroots circuit with Elevate Elite 17U 3SSB.

Speaking of prospects playing for schools making the jump from 4A to 7A, Joseph enters the chat. Her North Meck team concluded the 2024-25 season with a record of 25-4 and she and her Vikings are in search of even more success in 2025-26. Joseph's recruiting has ratcheted up recently with offers coming in from South Florida, East Carolina, Towson, Appalachian State, Radford, Hampton and VCU. Joseph averaged a double-double as a freshman and followed it up by posting numbers of 21.7 points, 10.3 rebounds, 3.7 blocks and 3.2 steals as a sophomore. One can see why she has earned Division I looks.

Edwards transferred from Marvin Ridge to Charlotte Latin prior to the start of the 2024-25 season and that addition a massive boost to the Hawks. A product of the [program_tooltip program_id='716105' first='Team' last='Mack'] program on its 17U team, she recently landed an offer from Rollins College in central Florida. When one stands at 5-foot-11 and is a combo guard as Edwards is, that automatically makes one an intriguing prospect. Last season, Edwards averaged 13 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.5 steals per contest. It led to Charlotte Latin putting together another winning season – the Hawks finished with a mark of 17-9 in 2024-25.

She is the primary player opponents have to look to contain if hoping to earn a victory over Northwest Cabarrus and is primed for success at the next level. Ortscheid was recently offered from Goldey-Beacom in Delaware as well as in-state school Lees-McRae. This was in addition to offers she already had from Mars Hill, Barton College and Davis & Elkins. Ortscheid's Trojans concluded last season with a solid 20-6 record and is making the move from 3A to 5A. Ortscheid posted career numbers last season – in the 26 games she played with Northwest Cabarrus in 2024-25, she averaged 17.7 points, 8.4 rebounds and 5.3 steals a contest. Ortscheid has also played volleyball throughout her athletic career.

Another product of [program_tooltip program_id='713558' first='Lady' last='Attack Elite'], Thomason plays for its S40 17U team. A rising senior of a Myers Park team that will make the jump from 4A to 8A beginning this season, Thomason announced a few days ago that she landed an offer from Guilford College. Her recruitment is starting to pick as evidenced the Guilford College offer and her first collegiate offer which was from Randolph-Macon. Thomason saw playing time in 23 games last season for the Mustangs where she averaged 6.9 points and 3.1 rebounds per contest. Rebounding and an outside shot are among the many positive attributes to her game.

One gets plenty of heart from Hartzell. She also is part of the AAU powerhouse that is [program_tooltip program_id='713558' first='Lady' last='Attack Elite']. A few days ago, Hartzell announced she landed an offer from Young Harris in the north Georgia mountains. She plays for a South Wake team that is one of the premier homeschool teams in the state – and the Sabres won last season's NCHEAC state championship. Hartzell led the way in that contest with 22 points, seven rebounds and four steals. The most recent offer she received is in addition to previous offers Hartzell received from Ferrum College and Johnson & Wales. She averaged 17.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 3.7 steals a contest in 2024-25.

One can count on virtually anyone wearing a [program_tooltip program_id='713558' first='Lady' last='Attack Elite'] uniform to get collegiate looks. Clark is another one of those and recently announced she landed a Division I offer from Manhattan in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Weddington is another former 4A school that will make the big realignment leap to 7A starting in 2025-26. Clark followed up her impressive freshman campaign with the Warriors with stellar sophomore season as she averaged 14.6 points and 1.6 steals per game. Any programs out there that are in need of a highly accurate 3-point shooter? Clark has two years remaining at the high school level and her 3-point shot could be even better than it already is.

Concord Academy has consistently been one of the teams to beat in the NCISAA ranks the past several seasons. Smith played a massive role in ensuring the Eagles put together another solid season as evidenced by its 26-7 record plus an unblemished conference showing. Smith recently landed her most recent offer from Muhlenberg College in Pennsylvania. A few days before that, she announced that she landed an in-state offer from Pfeiffer. Following a junior campaign that saw Smith average 11.7 points, 6.9 assists, 5.5 steals and 4.9 rebounds a contest, Smith is more than poised to conclude her high school career with an exclamation point.

Cipriano, at the end of last month, scored her first collegiate offer when it was announced that the College of Charleston had her on its radar. One can be certain it will be far from her last. She put together a breakout freshman season in 2024-25 – one where she averaged 6.7 points, five rebounds, 1.9 steals and 1.3 blocks per game. She was one of the leaders on last year's North Lincoln team in rebounding, steals, blocks and 3-point percentage. Cipriano played a massive part in why the Knights – who are moving up from 3A to 5A – finished with a 29-2 record – and those lone two losses were against teams in Lake Norman and Stuart Cramer that played in championship games at Wake Forest last season.

It is common knowledge to believe that the high school basketball calendar only exists from November to March. But in a state as passionate about hoops as this one, that is far from the case.
