July Tune-Up at Legacy

The July "live" periods are nearly upon us, with the first set to take place July 11th through 14th, and the second occurring July 18th through 21st. With that said, a handful of teams took to the court yesterday in Lafayette, Indiana, at the 4-court Legacy facility, where they each made some final adjustments in three shortened running clock outings. Below are a handful of players from the 17U division who stood out to us during the games we were able to see.   .    Precious was all over the place yesterday afternoon. She has finally found her rhythm after missing significant time in her career with some injuries, and she is primed to have a big July. She is a talented athlete with nice start/stop ability. She can really sit down and defend the ball, plus she's an aggressive rebounder for her size. Still, she is showing an improved handle and the ability to change directions in traffic better.     Shaylee falls into the long & wiry category. She is a smoot & fluid athlete, she plays with a nice motor, and she doesn't seem to shy away from any challenge. She likes to play fast in transition, get to the hoop and finish, or find open teammates for scores. She too is a talented defender who uses her quickness to contain and her length to poke the ball away. Shaylee is actively working to improve her perimeter skill as well.     Ava, a recent Indiana University-Kokomo commit, has continued to improve game to game, year to year. She is handling the ball with much more confidence and shooting it more consistently from the perimeter. Now she can take on the identity of a perimeter forward, she can play in the mid-post, or she can even operate around the low block, grab rebounds, and score on put-backs. Her versatility, length, and athleticism all stand out.     Joslyn is a strong, overpowering presence around the paint, and she is a big reason high school teammate [player_tooltip player_id='486543' first='Brooklynn' last='Renn'] is able to play away from the basket. Joslyn looks a bit leaner and more explosive this year, she has good hands, and she has developing footwork as well. She's also comfortable around the perimeter and can knock down a rhythm 3-pointer. She's a bit under the radar, and she will join our 2026 list during September's update.     Lucy is another strong, skillful frontline prospect, but growing up with older sisters who were guards, it shouldn't come as a surprise. While she has a powerful frame, she does move well at her size, she can shoot it a little facing, and she does a nice job of using the dribble productively. She has improved her ball screen defense, plus she's starting to rebound better outside of her area. She recently transferred from Tippecanoe Valley to St. Joe.     Taking away projections, top "prospects", etc., and Kamri is one of the best basketball players in Indiana's 2026 class. She is strong, physical on the wing, but also skilled. She can handle it, she sees the floor well, and she's capable of knocking down a rhythm 3-pointer. I also like her willingness to defend and rebound with energy. She may not be a 10 out of 10 at anything, but she's no less than a 7 out of 10 at anything either...just a complete player.     Yesterday was my first opportunity to see Jillian in person, and she is intriguing. She is a long, wiry-strong, fluidly athletic forward with a little bounce in her step. She is an active rebounder and defender, and she looks to score the ball consistently in the mid-post, whether by knocking down the 15-footer or driving it from there. She hasn't had much exposure to the Midwest's small colleges, so hopefully they are able to see her in Louisville this week.     I wrote about Miley multiple times this Spring because each time I've seen her in her return from a Summer 2024 injury she has been incrementally better. Yesterday she hopped over with the [program_tooltip program_id='716173' first='Always' last='100'] Gators for a run and was one of the best players at the event. She has an athletic frame, strength, length, and some bounce. She showed good hands and footwork, plus she probably blocked about 10 shots in one game alone.
