Preparing for Success: Future Stars of Basketball

For me, it's someone who operates quietly. They are intentional about what they do, and they are meticulous in every move they make. Now, you do have those who are loud, but what I am trying to get at is that they are people who do their work and jump onto a scene out of nowhere.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Now, granted that might have been a bad analogy, but what I am trying to compare are the young ladies who slowly grind at their craft and are about to have a breakthrough year. From the far west to the far east of the state, we have young ladies who are putting in the work before the start of the season. They may be grinding away in a hot gym, shooting up shots, and working on their handles. Or they may be running hills or doing sprints, getting their conditioning in. There isn't any cheering going on, just kids putting in that work to make themselves better. In some places around the state, you see kids playing in open runs. Then there are some who are getting shots up in their backyard. She has been in the gym lately getting shots up and perfecting her craft as she looks to be their leading catalyst. After battling it out on the EYBL circuit this past season, Ariyah is ready to step back into the high school scene and become a focal point for the Lady Raiders. She had a tremendous travel ball season where she displayed her skill set in a multitude of ways. From battling down low in the paint to stretching the floor, this kid showcased her scoring ability from multiple levels. She will be looked upon heavily to lock down the middle. She will block shots, contribute on the boards, etc. Look for her to contribute right away for the Lady Raiders and help solidify them in position to take the district crown, plus more. A selfless ballplayer who has been grinding away in the gym to get better. Her goal is to help change the course of the Hickman Co. program and help steer it in the right direction. She is big in stature, such a blessing, but her game is going to translate into so much. She is a young lady who can lock down the painted area. I am talking about owning the boards, blocking shots, and being physical to where low block players couldn't establish themselves. Offensively, she is going to be solid around the blocks, knock down the short corner and elbow jumpers, and just truly be a forceful presence down low. Look for her to not only score on the initial attempt but also create 2nd and 3rd chance opportunities for the Lady Lions ball club. There were multiple games this summer where she had averaged a double-double. I'm not talking about a 10 and 10 type of game. No, I'm talking about a 20 and 15 or a 20 and 20 type of game. She was all over the place, leaving her mark. She was tough to deal with. I can only imagine what kind of a problem she is going to be for her Tennessee opponents because she was giving that work against opponents from other states.
