Last weekend, in Appleton, we had our third PGH Freshman Showcase. I enjoy seeing the new faces of high school basketball before the season, and plenty of players at the event will make their mark on the high school season this winter. Today, we're discussing all the players from Team Four of the 5v5 portion of the event and highlighting what they brought to the floor. We'll keep this up until we wrap up all ten 5v5 teams that played at the Freshman Showcase.

[player_tooltip player_id='874401' first='Farrah' last='Danforth']

I've known that Danforth is a talented wing who can score the ball from all three levels. The Neenah native is also a player who brings some versatility to the frontcourt. Danforth is a physical kid who can play around the basket and overpower opposing forwards in the paint. It also helps that she can handle the ball and make plays off the dribble.

[player_tooltip player_id='1241703' first='Payten' last='Marciulionis']

The forward used her size well around the basket. I thought that Marciulionis did an excellent job defending around the basket and used her size to be a physically imposing presence around the rim. She rebounded the ball well on the defensive end of the floor and helped her team get out and run in transition. There is another level she can reach.

[player_tooltip player_id='1241213' first='Evelyn' last='Borcherding']

Borcherding is a 6'5 post player who has all the size anyone could hope for at her age. Like most players of her size at her age, she's far from the finished product, and that's okay. I thought she used her size well around the basket and caught entry passes at their highest point. I also think she has some touch on her shot that she can work with to improve her interior game moving forward.

[player_tooltip player_id='1267665' first='Kalli' last='Nelson']

Nelson handled the ball well on the offensive end of the floor. I also thought she saw the floor well and could make plays with the ball in their hands. In a situation where she didn't know her teammates coming into the event, I was impressed by how well she got her offense in a rhythm when she was on the floor. She has a chance to be a player who contributes to winning if she finds a way to get on the floor this coming winter.

[player_tooltip player_id='1314470' first='Giuliana' last='Wilkinson']

Wilkinson did an excellent job rebounding on the defensive end of the floor. She brought her physicality to the paint and owned her space around the basket. Once she grabbed that board, I thought she showed off some vision when she threw her outlet passes. Wilkinson got her team chances to get out and run in transition, which helped her team earn some points.
