Being young players, there is still time to dominate the paint inside and for them to grow as athletes. Sophomore season is in the books for these ladies, and it was a good one.
Here is a look at what these players have done.

Lauren Betts Lauren Betts 6'7" | C Grandview | 2022 State #1 Nation CO (Grandview)
Betts had a very impressive sophomore campaign starting with her summer. It started with an opportunity to play with USA Basketball on the U16 team, a team that won gold. She can finish around the rim with great touch and is an able mid-range shooter. Betts is one of the most efficient players in the state, shooting 209 for 287 (73 percent) from the field. She also averaged a double-double this past year with 17.8 points and 11.2 rebounds a night. Standing at 6-foot-7, she is able to disrupt offensive flow, and get her hands on a lot of blocks (3.9 blocks per game) so with all that said, it’s no wonder she’s widely regarded as the top recruit in her class.
Raegan Beers Raegan Beers 6'3" | PF Valor Christian | 2022 State #35 Nation CO (Valor Christian)
[player_tooltip player_id="95168" first="Raegan" last="Beers"]Beers is a punisher in the post with her physicality and size, and that combined with her skill and footwork makes her a real handful for other teams. Standing at 6-foot-3, she does a great job of establishing post position, making her an easy target for her teammates. Beers can finish with a variety of different finishes in the paint and she is a double-double waiting to happen, averaging 15.5 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. Only a sophomore, Beers has scored a total of 892 points in her prep career and is on track to join the 1,000 point club by midway through her junior season.

Imani Perez Imani Perez 6'3" | PF Mullen | 2022 State CO (Mullen)
Perez has a great feel for the game and a high IQ. Standing at 6-foot-3, she does well in pick-and-roll situations. An able shooter from midrange and from behind the arc shooting, she shot 108 for 200 (54 percent) from the field as a sophomore. In limited 3-point attempts, she was 8 for 21 (38 percent) this past season. Perez plays well in transition with or without the ball, and she averaged 9.3 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists. Perez also shows the ability to attack off the dribble, and can guard multiple position on the floor.
Mikenzie Jones Mikenzie Jones 6'1" | C Vista PEAK | 2022 State CO (Vista PEAK)
[player_tooltip player_id="95171" first="Mikenzie" last="Jones"]Jones does a great job in the mid-post and she has an explosive first step that allows her to get past her defender consistently. Standing at 6-foot-1, she has great athleticism for her size. Jones is a slasher and a willing shooter from the midrange. She averaged 11.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 3.5 blocks per game. Jones has been showing astounding improvements in her game year after year. When she gets going, she is tough to stop, and she scored 20-plus points in three games this past year while coming close to 20 points in multiple other competitions.

Avery Bang Avery Bang 6'1" | PF Chaparral | 2022 State CO (Chaparral)
Bang is a vocal leader for her team, as well as a fearless competitor. She shows the ability to defend multiple positions on the floor and does a good job of walling up in the post. Bang stands at 6-foot-2 and is not afraid to step out to the 3-point line and shoot. As she continues to improve and extend her range, she will be a tough player to contain. Bang averaged 12.1 points per game on 108-for-261 (41 percent) shooting from the field, and is a physical player who can attack the basket and finish through contact. She scored a season high in points toward the end of the 2019-20 campaign, pouring in 27 points against Legend.
