Continue ReadingI remember the first time I hashtagged a player #BEAST, her mom charged me up, until her phone was ringing from colleges yet you have to comprehend certain things and I love #THROWBACK stuff, the effort, the desire, the mindset combined with talent and of course size and strength will raise the eyebrows of many. Some of these players already deserve the #, some are definitely on the verge
Jadie Hines-6’3 (AKYB Academy 2022 Elite) 2023
Hines has several stars and stripes, in fact, I could make a flag but let me drop one instead. With her size and body, she’s a definite college prospect because of quite a few things other than what I mentioned and they include “she plays within herself” that’s a lost art, she finishes well, and her UPSIDE
Amya Winfrey-6’2 (Colorado Prospect Academy) 2022
Winfrey understands how to use her body, she does a good job setting the pick, she rebounds on both ends of the court and she finishes, this includes after contact and when you factor in her size, strength, and power, let me drop something else on you, she hasn’t hit her ceiling which could be scary for defenders down the road
Makenna Hall-6’2 (Oklahoma Swish Foreman) 2022
Hall may not be related to Arsenio, okay I’ve used that countless times but she used her body multiple ways by blocking out for rebounds, sealing the defender, or even setting strong picks, that should have been in the opening paragraph yet she’s active on the court, college coaches love players that move without the ball and even her size, she gets UP for everything
Ivy Johnson-5’10 (AAO Flight 2022) 2023
Johnson’s upside has me giddy on what she might become because let me start with her strength as well as power, two things you can’t teach, and when I go to the opening paragraph, I mentioned desire, you will not outwork her and that’s special in itself yet she also attacks the rim and finishes after contact
Tiani Ellison Tiani Ellison 6'1" | C Silo | 2023 State OK -6’1 (Team Trae Young 2022) 2023
Ellison has #BEAST written in caps with the tic tac toe sign before it but guess what else I wrote? UPS and that’s not only because she delivers, she elevates off the ground for rebounds. She’s strong, uses her body well, she finishes multiple ways including with players literally hanging on her and that’s the real
Josephine Bruder-6’2 (Platinum Basketball 2022 Bates) 2022
Bruder rhymes with maneuver and her first step rhymes with “see ya” because she can take off and finish after the lick yet that also works when she’s playing the passing lane and handling the ball in the open court. She’s long and athletic, she gets in the paint and battles and throw in her size, wow
Emikele Hawthorne-5’10 (Texas Cagers Select 2022) 2023
Hawthorne has shown progression each time I’ve caught her, this includes at her high school yet she’s understanding how to channel her energy and use it the right way because she is powerful, she loves to dive for loose balls, which should have been n the opening paragraph and she’s finishing consistently as well as rebounding and running the floor
Kimorah Washington-6’1 (Arkansas Lady Diamonds 2022) 2024
Washington has several things going for her that have her on the verge of creating major problems and let me start with 73 inches and that often overused phrase “you can’t teach size” so okay, she has solid skills, she moves well with and without the ball and she can finish but keep in mind she’s a 2024, time is on her side for even more
Kerrington Vass-6’2 (Oklahoma Chaos 2022) 2022
Vass has 74 inches and she uses them all, either to rebound on both ends or alter shots, well block and deflect too but what really impressed me, even more, as she understands how to get open around the basket, she has good hands and footwork and finishes strongly after contact or showed the soft-touch facing the basket
