The summer has transitioned to Fall. October has transitioned to November. And the high school sports calendar in South Carolina is on the verge of transitioning from volleyball and football to the 2021-22 basketball season. As we get closer to the first tip off, we at Prep Girls Hoops have released comprehensive region-by-region previews as we break down every region in the state along with highlighting key standout players in each region. In the last couple of weeks, we released our single-A and double-A region previews. We are now on to triple-A as we have a look at Region 3-AAA. [player_tooltip player_id="176202" first="Kendahl" last="Spearman"] – 2023 – Emerald HS – It is fitting that Spearman plays at a school called Emerald, because as fans have seen throughout the years, she shines bright like a diamond. Spearman began her high school career at Greenwood before transferring to the Vikings prior to the 2020-21 season. Spearman goes all out with every play. She is left-handed with an ability for hitting mid-range jump shots and is more than skilled at getting out in transition. She makes the extra pass and gives her team plenty of hustle and determination. Spearman scored nearly 21 points per season for the Eagles last season. Spearman has been Named Prep Girls Hoops Preseason Region Player of the Year. [player_tooltip player_id="158945" first="Hailey" last="Chiles"] – 2023 – Emerald HS – The Eagles' newfound dynamic duo of Chiles and Spearman are going to be a problem this season. Ironically, Chiles, as Spearman did prior to last season, also made the move from Greenwood to Emerald. While Spearman anchors the Emerald backcourt, Chiles does plenty of work for the Eagles' frontcourt, giving the Vikings a formidable presence in the low post. She has no problem coming out away from the rim and driving her way to the basket. She also has no issue with drawing contact to get to the free throw line. Chiles is also left-handed with shot-blocking capabilities and a mid-range game. [player_tooltip player_id="302121" first="Clara" last="Gramling"] – 2023 – Chapman HS – Prep Girls Hoops noticed Gramling at a couple of events earlier during the offseason/grassroots slate. Gramling had impressive showings at hoops camps hosted by Wofford College and Presbyterian College. Have 3-pointer will shoot and will make. She is dangerous as a defender being a constant threat to steal the ball and her knack for getting out in transition only makes her more of a problem for opponents. In addition with her prowess on the basketball court, Gramling also makes plays for the Panthers in both volleyball and soccer as she is a multi-sport athlete. [player_tooltip player_id="197057" first="Taneal" last="Evans"] – 2023 – Clinton HS – The Red Devils have had a pair of noteworthy winning seasons under coach John Gardner and with Evans returning for her junior season, it presents a great possibility Clinton could find itself on even more occasions in the win column. When Evans attacks the rim, she can throw a defense off guard as they do not know if she will attempt a layup or dish the rock out to an open teammate. Evans can score points via layups, floaters or mid-range and long-range jump shots. She will make plays in the transition game as well as on defense. [player_tooltip player_id="235396" first="Erianna" last="Wardlaw"] – 2023 – Emerald HS – Speaking of former Greenwood Eagles that transferred to Emerald as Spearman and Chiles did. Wardlaw will put up big point numbers and can do so at important points in a game such in a second half. She will absorb her fair share of contact and find her way to the free throw line where she is extremely gifted at sinking her freebies. Wardlaw takes care of the ball well, puts emphasis on quickness and has no issue finding open teammates to get others involved. Along with how she excels on the basketball court, she has also participated in track and field events throughout her high school career. [player_tooltip player_id="305507" first="Sadie" last="Burnette"] – 2025 – Woodruff HS – Burnette is another that Prep Girls Hoops noticed on several occasions throughout the offseason/grassroots slate. The girls basketball program at Woodruff looks to be in good hands with Burnette as a focal point. She will sink plenty of 3-point tries and puts in plenty of work to ensure she can get the ball in her hands. Burnette will absorb contact, get to the free throw line and knock down her shots from the stripe along with also being able to make plays around the rim. She played in the travel circuit with Carolina A.C.E.S. Her sister, Alli Burnette (2023), also plays for the Wolverines team. [player_tooltip player_id="249923" first="Krislyn" last="Wilder"] – 2025 – Chapman HS – Prep Girls Hoops also noticed Wilder at the same two camps during the offseason and travel circuit that the Panthers participated in. Do not think that because Wilder is coming into her freshman season that she is entering said season with a lack of experience. Wilder has been on the Panthers' varsity squad since she was a seventh grader and her play – from her ability to drive to the basket to put plenty of points on the board is a testament to that. A good number of those points come from 3-point range. Wilder also runs point, make great passes and wants the ball in her hands. [player_tooltip player_id="305511" first="Rihanna" last="Wallace"] – 2026 – Woodruff HS – If hoops fans across the Palmetto State have yet to take notice of this talented guard for the Wolverines, it will not be long before that changes. Wallace is going to be a force to be reckoned with in the backcourt for years to come and she already plays well beyond her years. Wallace is very skilled at getting to the rim and does so with a great degree of quickness. She puts a great deal of emphasis on her ball handling skills as well as in her ability to find her way to the rim. Wallace knows how to run an offense, absorb contact to give her team opportunities at the free throw line, get in position for rebounds and showcase outstanding footwork. Remember another name here at Woodruff HS in [player_tooltip player_id="496240" first="Jensyn" last="Turner"] (2026). The future looks very bright here for the Wolverines. Prep Girls Hoops predictions: Emerald HS – [player_tooltip player_id="158945" first="Hailey" last="Chiles"] really bolsters another piece to the roster Woodruff HS – As Wallace becomes more experienced, the Wolverines become more fearsome. The Lady Wolverines were (14-7) last year. Chapman HS – The Lady Panthers finished (11-12) last season but (8-3) in region play. Clinton HS – The Red Devils will enter the 2021-22 with a veteran-heavy squad. Union County HS – A six-game losing streak to close last season sank the Yellow Jackets' 2020-21 campaign. Broome HS – The Centurions are entering its first season under head coach Brittany Phillips. Broome HS finished (3-15) last season.
