Ava defines what it means to be a glue player. Her basketball IQ sets her apart. She always knows where her teammates are and anticipates plays before they happen. She is a unifer on the court. Even when her contributions don’t show up in the box score, her leadership and awareness are always a game changer with tight competition.

Thomas has earned her spot on this Benet Team, and what she brings to this program is very much needed. She’s a player who can be a 3&D threat, a decoy, and or one of their best on-ball defenders. She causes the defense to overthink when she’s on the court (she can’t be left open), she moves the ball well.. and usually will make the best decision for that possession. A glue piece.

There’s not a shot Thomas isn’t willing to take, and when you display the confidence that she does, it can be a tough matchup for the defender. This season, Thomas might be an X factor for Benet, with a ton of their go to players being dominant on the drive and in the paint. Look for Thomas to get a lot of easy shots from kickouts. Wouldn’t be surprised if she hits a couple of game winners.

Throughout the regular season, Ava played some quality minutes for a very talented team full of talented guards. Going into the summer, she’ll be a focal point for C.H.E, and she’ll be able to showcase the entirety of her game. Yes, she’s a sniper from beyond the arc, but she’s a hell of a defender, as well as a playmaker. A player to keep an eye on this summer.

Ava’s ability to stretch the floor at a high clip could be a huge piece of what Benet needs to stay competitive when their starters get tired. If she’s not used as a spot-up shooter, Thomas has the ball handling, vision, and defensive ability to be a lead guard for the second unit. Benet will be a program to watch this year.

Benet will be in the conversation as one of the most competitive teams in the state, which means every role will be needed. Thomas should see a good amount of minutes on the varsity squad this year, and as a sharpshooter, her skillset will be needed. She’s fast, confident and can stretch the floor with some of the best guards in this class.

Every team needs multiple players that can space the floor, and Ava is surely one of those players. With a young team that can move the ball in transition, she should be able to find easy shots within the flow of the game. Catch and shoot or off the stand still, Thomas shoots at a high clip.
