Vickery would be the captain on this squad and lead a powerful scoring front court. She is ranked No. 2 overall in the Kansas Class of 2027 and has verbally committed to Kansas State University. She is a three-level scorer, and I will need her to handle the ball quite a bit, since I have only one true guard on this team. She has cat-like speed and will score in transition often for this team.

A ton has been written about Vickery on Prep Girls Hoops, by several scouts, and believe me, she deserves it. The Kansas State University commit is one of the top ballers in the state and will be making headlines for years to come. She can shoot, she can drive, she can rebound, she has all the skills to be an elite athlete, and she is constantly working to improve her game. Not to be crude, but like the biggest names in WWE, MLB, NFL, NHL, NBA, etc, etc, this young lady will put butts in seats and sell a ton of tickets in Manhattan after her high school days are done.

was the most talented hooper I had the opportunity to see live this summer. A top prospect for a reason, she showcased elite skill, high-level feel for the game, and the kind of composure that separates great players from the rest. Competing with Missouri Phenom on the EYBL circuit, she consistently elevated her squad and proved she belongs on the national radar. Unfortunately, an injury may sideline her for a bit, but there’s no doubt, Maddie will be back, and she’ll be even stronger. Her game, mindset, and competitive fire make her a special talent, and when she returns to the floor, expect her to pick up right where she left off.

has built and is continuing to build her game on something you can’t teach: a relentless consistency and a passion for the game. Her growth as a player is no fluke—it comes from countless hours spent in the gym, long after the lights have dimmed and the crowd has gone. Maddie trains with a purpose, driven by a deep, personal love for the game of basketball. Her commitment shows in how she prepares, with a quiet hunger to improve every time she steps on the floor. That same discipline fuels how she leads, both on and off the court. After the events at Run for Roses, her heartfelt letter to the game resonated with athletes, coaches, and families across the country. But for those who have watched her play, Maddie’s poise and purpose have always been clear, long before her words echoed across the basketball community.

Washburn Rural is the second closest high school to my house in Topeka, so it’s easy to catch Vickery in action. She is ranked No. 2 overall in the Kansas Class of 2027 and has verbally committed to playing at Kansas State University. She is very disciplined about posting updates of her workouts and games on X, so I feel like I get to see her a ton. It’s worth the time to see her play, as she is extremely skilled and can score from three levels.

live for the first time—and she absolutely lived up to the hype. One of the first things that stood out was her strength and physical presence on the court, a clear indication of the work she’s put in to prepare for high-level competition. Maddie holds a physical edge over many of her opponents, but it’s her all-around skill set that truly separates her. She’s a well-rounded player who can both score and facilitate, consistently creating opportunities for her teammates while getting buckets herself. Maddie is without a doubt one of the top prospects I’ve seen in Kansas—her game speaks for itself.

is an elite playmaking forward, showcasing a truly exceptional skill set for her position. During this AAU season, she has consistently demonstrated a remarkable craftiness with her moves, utilizing an array of fakes, spins, and precise footwork to navigate defenses and create opportunities. This isn’t just about scoring; it’s about her ability to manipulate the game with the ball in her hands.
Her unique combination of forward size and guard-like vision allows her to be a primary facilitator from different spots on the floor. Maddie’s playmaking prowess, coupled with her nuanced offensive repertoire, has allowed her to truly stand out, making her a formidable threat who can score or set up teammates with equal effectiveness.

Maddie Vickery was only able to play her first game this weekend because of an injury that occurred after a hard foul in Game 2. Prior to this occurring, Vickery had a solid start to her weekend. She is a 6’1 enforcer with a versatile skill-set between a CG and a SF. Her lengthy arms and mental IQ of the game makes her for an almost impossible guard at the high school level. She can also defend multiple positions because of this length, which makes her ideal in any defensive scheme. Always a lot to like outta Vickery whenever you watch her compete and that’s why she is ranked as a national rated prospect at the end of the day.

In the Junior Blues’ 6A state quarterfinal loss to eventual state champ Blue Valley North what especially impressed me was how smartly she played to stay on the floor most of the game despite picking up two early fouls. Check out more in this article:
