could be PG #1 at the collegiate level one day if she plays her cards correctly and she continues to work on her weaknesses. Schechinger is another Guard that isn’t going to kill you with flash all the time but she does have a fairly deep offensive bag off the dribble. I like Schechinger more as a pass-first type, who can also make some plays as she gets downhill when the defense over-plays everything else that’s going on. We haven’t been able to see the full potential of this one at the high school level just yet. I’m sure that once this Winter comes to a close though, that should all change as she shouldn’t be coming off of the floor much in the future as their starting PG and leader.

Liberty is fortunate to boast a backcourt filled with talented performers. They do well in sharing the minutes, each of them contributing to the cause. It led the Lightning to victory against No. 3 City High during an early-season contest. Schechinger certainly did her part in the victory, as a steady two-way guard not prone to mistakes in a pressurized environment. Even though it wasn’t her best shooting night, she found ways to impact the action. She grabbed four rebounds and handed out a couple of assists. Schechinger was at her best on the defensive end, where she came up with three steals. Her effort was instrumental in frustrating the Little Hawks on this night.

EYCL team to a National Title about a week ago. Schenchinger is your PG that would be considered pass-first. She sets up her team’s system, moves players where she should, and she makes sure everything is working how it is suppose too. If something breaks down, Schenchinger has shown that she can make something happen with little space and time on the clock. The dynamic at IC – Liberty will be interesting this Winter. I think Schechinger will see the floor a good amount with how efficient her play can be. She might not kill you with flashy moves but more-so with straight fundamentals. Which is just as impressive.

of IC – Liberty came into this Winter and played her role at the PG position to a T. She didn’t start every contest over the last few months but she did impact each game with her tempo controlling dribble and knowledge of the sport from an IQ stand point. She was never flustered when she was receiving pressure in any situation and that helped her team calm down in some meaningful moments throughout the year. I think there is a lot of room for Schechinger to grow in this game over her career but she put together a respectable campaign as a freshman that she should definitely be proud of moving into the Spring/Summer AAU season.

To start off her high school Varsity career, Natalie Schechinger of Iowa City – Liberty came into the game off of the bench and logged in quality minutes against a solid 5A – CILM opponent in Southeast Polk. I actually highlighted Schechinger following this contest because of her scrappy defense, thorough play-making ability, and her willingness to adapt to what her coach was trying to explain to her in real time. The Lightning have so much potential with their underclassmen group. If that team stays mentally locked in and their older leaders stay hot, they are going to win a bunch of contests this Winter as a team. There is no doubt about that.

The youngest player to grace the floor last night for the IC – Liberty was PG, Natalie Schechinger. Schechinger is solid as a prospect. She may be young but she doesn’t make too many mistakes, she plays tenacious defense, and she understands what it means to be a quality teammate to those around her. Against the Rams it would have been easy for Schechinger to defer and sit in a corner but she played with some aggression and more-so, confidence. Which was ultimately extremely promising in the end. If she can continue to come in and play like this moving forward, she is going to be someone we talk about for years to come out of Eastern Iowa, with this being just the beginning.

This entire article is about players progression and their process of becoming the best version of themselves on the hardwood. Someone that should stay true to both of these things is PG – Natalie Schechinger of IC Liberty High School. Shechinger should trust the process and play her role. If she does that, she is going to be someone that we see competing at the Varsity level before you know it. This is someone that showed out as one of the most fundamental prospects at our event throughout the day. She showed some promise with the ball in her possession coming down the court and that is not something that applies to everybody.

The Iowa City Liberty women’s program put together a year to remember last season. They demonstrated that they are young, talented. and going to be a name around Iowa for a long time to come. A player that will be joining them at the Freshman level these next few months is

. Schechinger is a Point Guard, that sets the tone for the rest of her team. Each time she laces up her kicks and takes the floor, she is making her presences felt in a number of ways. She can control pace of play, she understands what her team’s objectives are, and she knows to put her teammates on the floor in the correct spots if she wants to make her offense work. This is another situation where I don’t think she will play Varsity as a Freshman just because of how talented the returning players will be but who knows. If she has a great AAU season with her

EYBL team and she puts together a fantastic pre-season, she could make it happen but only time will tell.
