The guard out of Brainerd is aggressive offensively and puts constant pressure on the defense from the perimeter and the wing. Black Lance did a great job breaking the defense down, drawing extra defenders and finishing around the basket at a high clip. When the defense was late with the closeout, Beth made them pay from beyond the arc. She also chased down her own misses, earning extra opportunities with her effort. Defensively, she smells blood in the water when she senses an advantage, attacking ball handlers and forcing them to pick it up or give it up. Something else I appreciated was her accountability. If she made a mistake, she owned it and communicated with her teammates. That goes a long way in building trust. We’ve been covering the junior for what seems like forever, and her game continues to elevate every time we see her. Another big season is in store for the All Iowa Attack guard, and we’re here for it.

Black Lance works so hard – all day, every day – so it’s not surprising that her effort level stood out on Sunday. Beth is a Top 50 prospect and one of Northern Minnesota’s best three or four sophomores. She brings energy and toughness every game, pairing hard work with a true love of the sport. A sniper from deep who also attacks downhill to earn trips to the line, she blends scoring with playmaking and defensive reliability. Poised, unselfish, and team-first, she consistently makes the right play.

As a member of our 2028 Watch List, and an honorable mention in our 10 Best Prospects of Northern Minnesota, we have seen a lot of good work from the Brainerd guard over the past few years. We will reiterate what’s been said several times before; Bethany is a team-first player who consistently displays a high level of poise, playmaking ability, and excellent basketball IQ. She handles and passes the ball well and is a consistent, reliable defender. Not to mention, she is a major threat from beyond the arc. Bethany is one of the hardest workers out there and will make a great collegiate player when the time comes.
