In todays game, the transfer portal in high school is a real thing. We don't see it as much in Iowa as we do in other states around the country but it can definitely still play a factor in the success of a program down the line. In this article we highlight five prospects that have recently transferred to compete at different programs this upcoming season than they did a year ago.

Ankeny High School was a contender last season because of their star prospects [player_tooltip player_id='342205' first='Jayla' last='Williams'] and [player_tooltip player_id='311376' first='Savannah' last='Gage'] leading the charge. For this upcoming season, they have added Foward, [player_tooltip player_id='561262' first='Reagan' last='Baldwin'], giving them some dominant firepower down next to other basket. It's all going to boil down to using Baldwin in the correct ways and their team finding stable offense but if they can do that, they will have a chance for a state appearance before the seasons finishes out. They will have two D1 prospects on their side with some other notable difference makers like Baldwin. As long as their strategy is solid, they could shock a lot of teams in the near future in the right circumstance.

[player_tooltip player_id='432963' first='Grace' last='Linder'] is moving on from Valley High School to compete with Norwalk for her last season of high school ball. Linder is a prospect that has picked up several D3 offers these past six months because of her potential and competitive drive when she is on the court. Linder stands right around 5'11-6'0 and she is someone that could be a really solid collegiete prospect with the correct guidance. She is going to get a shot this Varsity season to come in and make a difference right way with the Warriors. If she plays her best basketball yet to date, while the other star prospects on her team do their thing, they should make a big run before the 2024-2025 season comes to a close.

From what I'm hearing, [player_tooltip player_id='909489' first='Alaina' last='Dreckmeier'] is a prospect out of the 2028 Class and she will be taking her talents to Davenport North to start her high school basketball career. This is someone that I had to note in this article, even though she isn't necessarily transferring from somewhere else, she was going to attend North Scott but a year of experience with two nationally ranked players like [player_tooltip player_id='311381' first='Divine' last='Bourrage'] and [player_tooltip player_id='311365' first='Journey' last='Houston'] was too good of an opportunity to pass up. When you add Dreckmeier to the Varsity group for the Wildcats, you start to question who is going to have good enough players to beat them throughout a whole contest. The biggest factor will come on the defensive side but if they play to their full capabilities staying in front of the ball, they should be a team to beat out of their Class this upcoming season.

[player_tooltip player_id='592200' first='Hudsyn' last='Ranschau'] is making the change from Sioux City East High School to Rock Valley for her next two years of her high school career. Ranschau is one of the state's premier Shooting Guards out of the 2026 Class, that can catch on fire in the blink of an eye. When I say she is a talented shooter, it's something defenders can't take lightly because if they do, she will end up with 30 points at halftime on three point buckets alone. Over the past two years she has also shown the ability to put the ball on the floor and get to other favorable spots for herself depending on the situation. Hudsyn will be moving and competing with the Rockets. I'm sure this change is going to be quite different as she should average some eye-opening numbers for her final two years on the Varsity floor. She will be competing with a smaller school, in a smaller conference so she is going to have the chance to step up even more than before. Which is saying something when you consider that she has also been a top scorer for her 2026 Class throughout this state her past two seasons on the Varsity floor.

Joining Hudsyn on this journey is her twin sister, [player_tooltip player_id='582807' first='Haevyn' last='Ranschau']. Haevyn is another player that I would consider at high volume, high efficiency shooter from deep. She tends to play off of the ball a little bit more and launch it a little bit quicker but in general, these two sisters have some similarities to their play styles. I would say that Hudsyn is more likely to put it on the ground but Haevyn is good enough to do the same if pressured. Like I said, at a smaller school like Rock Valley, these two should EAT. They are both walking buckets so if they play with full confidence that they are going to kill it, they could be one of the highest scoring duo's in the state together.
