You could probably go as far as to argue that Aniya is Franklin Central’s unsung hero in the 2028 class. She is a talented athlete who plays with great control. She utilizes that control to stop and pop in the mid-range game, plus it helps her to change gears while pushing the ball up the floor. While she has always been a nice all-around guard, in June and July she showed off a much-improved jump-shot. She was taking and making contested jumpers, plus she was shooting the 1-dribble pull-up well. Aniya is also a capable and effortful defender.

She showed the ability to knock down shots from the perimeter while also displaying solid vision and passing ability. Her confidence with the ball allows her to initiate offense and create advantages for her teammates.

She is also effective in reading defenses, knowing when to attack gaps or move the ball to keep the offense flowing. Defensively, she competes and uses her quickness to stay active in passing lanes and on-ball situations. She brings a steady presence in pressure moments and does not shy away from big possessions. Her offensive versatility makes her an important part of her team’s success and a guard that can impact games in multiple ways.

On a Flashes team with a loaded 2027 class, Aniya has unfortunately often drawn the “who’s that player” comments when she has a standout game. The crazy thing is year to year she has been one of their most consistent players. She always plays with effort, she’s a nice athlete with length, and she has skillful versatility. I’m used to her playing off the attack, knocking down mid-range pull-ups and finishing around the basket. But Friday, she was burying triple after triple, helping to alleviate pressure from her teammates. She’s an elite small college prospect, without question.

One of her biggest strengths is her ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor. She competes defensively, attacks offensively, and consistently plays with a high motor. Those traits make her a valuable asset for Franklin Central as the program continues to build toward another successful season.

June basketball will provide Doughty with opportunities to showcase her growth against some of Indiana’s top competition. If she continues developing her perimeter consistency and overall offensive versatility, she could become an even bigger factor within Franklin Central’s talented roster.

Her work ethic and competitiveness suggest there is still plenty of room for growth moving forward.

Aniya was great Friday night. She is so well-rounded, that she can typically always find a way to contribute. She has a long, wiry-strong, athletic frame, she is a nice athlete in all directions, and she does such a nice job of playing under control. She’s one of those kids who may not be a 10/10 at anything, but she’s no less than a 7/10 at most things. She can handle it, she can create/attack, she can knock down an open rhythm jumper, she’ll rebound her position, and she can defend multiple positions. I thought her reads between when to shoot or pass last night were spot on.

Whether she’s getting downhill and finishing at the rim or pulling up for a jump shot, Aniya has the confidence and skill set to create her own offense. She plays with control, but also knows when to be aggressive and attack the defense.

As she continues to develop and gain more exposure, her combination of toughness, versatility, and playmaking ability will make her a player college programs keep a close eye on.

Part of a talented 2027 class, she has already established herself as a strong, three-level scoring guard who also rebounds and defends at a high level. With the graduation of Lily Graves and Emma McVey, Aniya is poised to take on an even bigger scoring role for a Franklin Central team with high expectations after winning its first sectional championship in five years.

This season, she looks to build on her AAU success by becoming a more consistent offensive threat while leading her team deeper into the IHSAA State Tournament. With her skill set and continued development, Aniya is a strong candidate to begin receiving college offers within the next year or two.

Frankin Central has so many skillful and talented 2027 prospects, that Aniya sometimes gets overlooked. However, she has a very confident, smooth, and productive game all her own. She can handle the ball in transition, initiate the offense from time to time, plus she’s an athletic attacker who can create scores for herself or teammates. She has an improving perimeter shot as well, but I also really like her effectiveness as a defender, whether she’s on the ball or rotating from the “help” side of the floor. She also rebounds her position well.
