Audrey had an outstanding three days playing very good competition where she more than held her own. Lunsford is one of the most versatile players in the state and playing with two major division one recruits, she was able to display a large part of her skills on the offensive end. Generally the offense revolves around Audrey, especially in high school, so the defense is always geared to shut her down first. The scoring ability of Vanessa Vancott and Trinity Berry, her backcourt mates with NextUp, allows Lunsford the freedom to roam, slash, and cut all over the court without two people following her. She took full advantage of her size, skill, and the space on offense she isn’t accustomed to having. Lunsford scored countless times slashing to the basket from the wings and corners and was especially effective on the baseline. Audrey finished well at the rim and did a nice job drawing fouls resulting in multiple And One plays and other trips to the free throw line. As a result of her play, Lunsford was on the phone with a Division One assistant coach in the South yesterday.

Brings versatility and steady production to Elbert County’s backcourt, impacting the game in multiple ways. She fills the stat sheet. Lunsford plays with a high motor and good instincts, attacking when opportunities are there while also facilitating for teammates. Defensively, she’s active and disruptive, turning steals into transition opportunities. Her balanced production and effort on both ends make her a reliable contributor every night.

Audrey led her team to another late run in March reaching the state championship game before losing to a very good East Laurens team. Lunsford is a mismatch for almost every team that Elbert County plays due the size and skill she possesses. She knows the game and uses those strengths scoring in the post against smaller defenders and bringing bigger, often slower, defenders out to the perimeter before blowing by them and scoring in the paint. She does a very good job playing off two feet which allows her to convert tough finishes at the rim in traffic. Audrey is also a very good shooter from the perimeter something I would really like to see her incorporate into her game often. Her biggest strength might actually be passing the ball which she demonstrated playing the Point Four position for Elbert. She handles the ball very well and uses her strength well shielding off defenders. She has quick feet and can defend the guard position in college where she is receiving a lot of interest from multiple schools. The college coaches I have talked to believe strongly in her ability to be a very solid wing player on the next level.

Recently named the Region player of the year, Audrey has led her team all year in a lot of categories, in a lot of games. When her team needed her most against a 24-5 Lamar County team led by one of the best sophomores in the state, Lunsford delivered 26 huge points along with six rebounds and three steals. Audrey has elevated her play in big games over the course of three years and Friday night was no different. She is a very talented player who is skilled in a lot of areas on the court. Just a ’27, Audrey plays like a senior now leading her young teammates vocally with encouragement and by example with her fearless play. It’s on to another Elite Eight appearance for the Lady Devils.

Audrey did an excellent job leading her team across the finish line for the win. Lunsford is a very talented player who has earned a strong reputation in North Georgia the last few years. This Elbert team is not as talented as ones in the previous years, but I have seen her take control of games late and secure the win for her team in very close contests twice in the span of three days. She has very good size and strength, solid fundamentals, and good athleticism, however her biggest attribute is her competitiveness. The kid competes hard and hates to lose. Her recruitment will continue to pick up over the next year, but Lunsford has already garnered interest from Division 1 and 2 programs.

Big guard is able to fill the box score in a variety of ways. Bumps off defenders. Has a high release on her jump shot. Good at getting to her mid-range pull-up. Scores with both hands around the rim. Fluid with the ball. Holds upside at the next level with her ability to play 1-3.

Audrey feels like the next big thing out of Elbert County. She scores from all three levels and can do so in punishing fashion, the big guard using her strength to get to where she wants to go. Lunsford has a nice pull-up jumper and is strong enough to score through contact. She handles the ball very well and is an effective rebounder. She can play 1-3 for the Blue Devils.
