St. Albert will return 8+ prospects from their Varsity team from last season and one of those players to keep an eye on is Lexie Pearce. Pearce is listed as a 5’9 SF, who does most of her work near the rim. She is there to take up space, box out and rebound, defend, and to convert though contact whenever plausible. She is also sound enough to step out from 12 FT and hit a little shot off of a tough angle if defenses don’t respect her. This program is loaded at all positions. That’s been the case for the last couple of years and it’ll be the case for this season as well. If they take care of business, they should be right back in the 1A State Tournament in about 7-8 months and from there, who knows what might happen!

Pearce finished off St. Albert season as her team’s second leading scorer with 10.7 PPG on 34% shooting from the floor, 30.5 % from three point lane, and 77.7% from the charity stripe. We had a chance to see Pearce compete a few times this past Winter season and she showed up a good amount down the stretch. She didn’t hog the ball during possessions, she played cleanly overall, and she understood what her role was with those who were placed around her. When a player tries to do too much, it’s easily noticeable. We see that a lot in high school ball but not with Pearce. She stays within her own and her coaches have to love her for that in the grand scheme of things.

Over the past month I have had a chance to see Lexie Pearce and her Team Factory team compete against some elite competition. Every time they take the floor, they seem to play more as a team and seem to play better with the experience that they have gained from the time before. Pearce for example, is a longer Guard with a solid frame to go along with it. She may only stand at 5’7 but she plays like she is 5’11 with her ability to cover space in a short matter of time on either side of the floor. She has a fundamental shooting stroke from deep that keeps opponents on their toes and she never seems to give up on a playing up the buzzer sounds or she hears the whistle from the ref. Last year as a Freshman she wasn’t bad on the high school floor by any means. She played her role and that was enough but I think this year she makes a huge jump. She could be truly someone that averaged 15-7-5 at the Varsity level if she stays locked in mentally and she is put in the correct situations to succeed. We will be hearing more about her during the month of June but as for right now, she is definitely on the up & up at this time.

Lexie has a long wingspan that she uses to her advantage when finishing over defenders with her floater or layups at the rim. She brings back that slashing era of basketball with her ability to move without the ball and how well she cuts through the lane getting herself open for easy looks.

She has a great wingspan and frame for her size and skill set. She’s versatile and plays both inside and out. Her shooting ability forces alot of mismatches beyond the 3 which opens up the lane for her and her teammates to get to the rim.
