About Chaelyn
Expert Analysis
Jill Dunn | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
A very strong and athletic forward. Chaelyn is tough as nails in the paint area driving the ball and finishing around the rim. She is a major force on the glass. Quick and mobile defender that plays extremely hard on both ends. The ceiling is very high for Tifre and she is going to continue to get even better at the next level.

Tifre proved to be a bright spot on what was otherwise a rough afternoon at the office for 5A Division 1 River Bluff. Tifre’s Gators matched up against another 5A Division 1 Midlands team in Ridge View. The Gators may have been on the wrong end of the 45-32 decision but Tifre spearheaded a valiant effort with 14 points. Tifre understands the art of playing physical in the interior as she knows it will give her opportunities at old-fashioned 3-point plays. She is a gifted rebounder who will will plenty of battles on the boards and excels as an overall defensive playmaker as much as she does on the offensive end. Tifre also plays with plenty of confidence when attempting shots from midrange and long range.

She Got Next Friday concluded with an all-Midlands matchup pitting the new-look 5A Division 1 River Bluff against 4A Gray Collegiate. The War Eagles may have got the better of the Gators but a gutsy 13-point performance courtesy of Tifre gave River Bluff a fighting chance. Tifre, in her second stint at River Bluff, thrives in the Gators frontcourt converting on high percentage opportunities but can also make things happen in the midrange game as well. Rebounding is another of her strong areas as she will win plenty of battles on the boards. Tifre is one of three seniors on this year’s River Bluff roster.

Seeing 5A Division 1 River Bluff on a team’s schedule in 2025-26 will likely produce a different reaction than if a team saw the Gators on their schedule last season. The return of Tifre for her second go-round with River Bluff is one reason why. Following her final season in the AAU ranks with TUSC, Her rebounding, ball-handling capabilities and offensive versatility are major reasons why this year’s Gators will be a team to beat in the 5A Division 1 ranks. Among Tifre’s recent collegiate suitors are Piedmont University and Denmark Tech. A double-double threat on a consistent basis, Tifre averaged 12 points, 10.9 rebounds and 3.6 steals last season at Northside Christian.

In similar fashion as Godfrey, Tifre also secured an offer towards the close of last month from Piedmont following participation in an elite camp at the north Georgia school. Tifre also secured an in-state offer as well from Denmark Tech. She will finish her high school career returning to River Bluff and concluded her time through club ball wearing the Team Unleashed South Carolina uniform. Tifre was another representative of the strong Gators contingency that was on hand at the Rock Hill Sports and Events Center for the Prep Girls Hoops Carolinas Expo two weekends ago. She is more than poised to finish her high school career with an exclamation point.

Speaking of notable names to receive an offer from Montreat, that distinction also applies to Tifre who was one of the marquee transfers of the 2025 offseason. Tifre played her final grassroots season with Lady TUSC and recently turned in an impressive performance in Florence at the inaugural Passion Driven Showcase at the Pearl Moore Center. Entering her second stint with 5A Division 1 River Bluff, Tifre averaged a double-double of 12 points, 10.9 rebounds and 3.6 steals last season for a SCISA 4A Northside Christian team that concluded last season with a 23-3 record. A strong case can be made that 5A Division 1 River Bluff had the most successful offseason of any team in the state with the additions the Gators made. Tifre will be sporting River Bluff’s colors for the second time in her career as she embarks on her senior campaign. This past weekend, she was under the tutelage of coach Justin Johnson. While conventionally a frontcourt force, Tifre displays that she can be offensively versatile with her ability to convert from deep. Rebounding and defense are also strong points of her complete game. Tifre is a superb blend of talent and veteran instincts. She averaged 12 points, 10.9 rebounds and 3.6 steals last season at SCISA 4A Northside Christian.

In Tifre’s case, her sporting the River Bluff colors is a re-introduction of her to the Gators’ faithful. If River Bluff wanted to make a statement to the rest of the state that the Gators will be a force to be reckoned with, it did so by going 4-0 at the Live Camp at Riverview Park. Tifre is wearing the Team Unleashed South Carolina uniform during her final season on the AAU circuit. She is a double-double possibility on a game-by-game basis as she averaged 12 points and 10.9 rebounds in the 25 contests she played last season at SCISA 4A Northside Christian.

Seeing Tifre in Northside Christian red instead of 5A River Bluff green may yield some choice words from Gators fans. But Tifre is indeed part of a dangerous SCISA 4A Crusaders nucleus that looks to pose a real threat to Heathwood Hall for this year’s state crown. The Crusaders have began the 2024-25 season at 4-0 and one of those victories came to win the Blue Division at the GRAD Athletics Thanksgiving Classic. Northside Christian routed Bamberg-Ehrhardt by a final score of 59-23 and the interior presence of Tifre led the charge as she tallied 17 points. One must look out for Tifre on the glass as well as she is a potent rebounder.
