Kaylee was exactly what Wayne Memorial needed to put a State Championship caliber team on the court again this season. In her first year for the Zebras, Kaylee became a formidable force in the paint. Her MVP performance in a statement win against Muskegon made it undeniably clear that Kaylee belonged in the top five of our rankings. She led the Zebras with 20 points and secured nine rebounds. Kaylee’s robust strength, skilled footwork in the post, shot-blocking, finishing touch around the basket using either hand, mid-range game, passing instincts, and defensive effort are separators as a D1 forward prospect. Kaylee led Wayne Memorial to a win against Plymouth with 12 points in the KLAA runner-up game and posted 14 points with seven rebounds during a win vs. Detroit Renaissance. The Zebras finished the season 19-2 with their only losses coming against #1 Belleville. Wayne Memorial defeated Livonia Stevenson, Detroit Renaissance, Muskegon, Grass Lake, West Bloomfield, Muskegon, and Holt. They are one of the top contenders again in the postseason tournament. Kaylee was selected to the KLAA All-Conference Select Team, and I’m excited to see where she decides to continue her basketball career.

the Queen of the Court” in the stands, and that description certainly matched her performance on Saturday. Kaylee maintained excellent defensive positioning to cut off drives, utilized her length to block shots, and walled up with excellent technique to avoid fouling. She stepped up for the Zebras as a shooter, knocking down timely jumpers from the top of the key, free throw line, and the short corner. Kaylee was a warrior in the paint. She muscled her way into rebounding position, grabbed the ball with strong hands, and gave the team second chance opportunities. Kaylee finished strong off two feet, forced the defense to put her on the line, and converted several free throws. She led Wayne Memorial with 20 points and nine rebounds, earning West Hoop Summit Co-MVP honors.

King set strong, effective screens that freed up her guards and created clean scoring opportunities. On the glass, she stayed active and crashed hard for offensive rebounds, consistently generating extra possessions. Defensively, she used her length and size extremely well to alter and block shots—highlighted by her three blocks in the first 10 minutes of the game. Around the rim, she showed a soft touch and finished with confidence.

Kaylee physically dominated the paint at the LBI Mitten Opening with Wayne Memorial. Her muscular strength, height, and mobile stature immediately grabbed my attention. She pinned defenders inside with strong seals and finished with a soft touch around the basket. Kaylee’s textbook move was a drop-step pivot baby hook, and nobody could stop it. Kaylee blocked shots in the paint and sprinted out to block a shot on the perimeter. She worked hard to score offensive rebound put-backs and sprinted the floor in transition. Kaylee proved why she’s a D1 forward and top-ten prospect today.

Kaylee’s recruiting is starting to reflect the caliber of player she’s proven to be all summer. Seeing her perform against high-level college prospects at the Mystics Scrimmage, BCAM, and Midwest Summer Classic cemented her in my mind as a top ten prospect in the state. Kaylee’s height and robust stature make her an imposing player to match up against on both ends of the court. She has excellent footwork around the basket and finishes high with a soft touch. Kaylee can step outside to hit mid-range to long jumpers and has good passing instincts in the post. She has the confidence to push the ball up the court with both hands and is in a select group of forward prospects.

King is high level player that honestly, is still probably way underrated. She has the potential to not just be a monster under the rim in high school, but at the next level as well. King just has so many physical gifts to build around. She has good ease of movement and strong hands.
