We saw Lizzie Beam holding serve with her All Iowa Attack EYCL program this past weekend against other AIA teams, along with a few other programs from surrounding states like Nebraska. Beam has been putting together solid showings on both sides of the floor. She has been a leader that her teammates can trust in when they need a bucket offensive and she holds her own on the defensive side at the same rate. I’m not sure where Beam will untimely get offers from but she is a skill hooper with a bright future if she sticks with it. She has better than average size and she has great situational awareness so the expectations are high as she moves into her final season of high school ball this upcoming Fall.

attended our PGH Showcase this past Fall prior to her season and she stood out there as one of the top players in the building because of her mixture of size and skill so it’s nice to see that she followed that up with a great high school season with Ankeny Centennial as one of their unquestionable leaders. Beam demonstrated that she can handle the ball under pressure, she can hit shots offensively off the catch and at the bucket off the bounce, that she can rebound against bigger matchups, and that she understands what the goal is of her team on each possession coming down the floor. I’m not entirely sure where she has interest from yet but this is someone that is definitely going to thrive at the next level if they can find the correct fit.

of Ankeny Centennial is finishing up her Junior year and I think it’s clear that she proved herself this Winter as a college level prospect. Whenever I see Beam or this Jaguars squad compete, she is showing up in numerous ways. She is always a consistent threat on the offensive end, while being a very good defender. Her mixture of size and coordination isn’t too overwhelming but it’s a better combination than most others possesses or anticipate. Offensively, Beam always use her body body to protect the ball in sneaky ways that throw defenders off balance. She can finish through contact near the hoop or she can screen from the outside and roll into the midrange. Beam has always been someone to show up, no matter the situation so the Playoffs don’t bring too much stress. She keeps it simple and that helps her thrive in intense situations. Situations like she will be against on Saturday against DSM Roosevelt.

is a really talented player. She is aa SG with better than average size at 5’10, she has a great feel for the game, she converts on offense as a high rate from all offensive levels, she is willing to crash the boards hard on every possession, and she is willing to give up the ball to an open teammate when it matters the most because all she cares about is her team’s success. When you put that all together, you get someone who thrives under pressure and you get someone who shows out whenever they compete. Ankeny Centennial will face off against a very talented Valley program this evening. This game won’t be for the faint of heart. Valley has put together a respectable season and they aren’t done yet so we will need to see how the Jaguars combat that intensity. This would be another great contest to catch if you are in the DSM area with some free time over these next few hours.

The potential that

has is noteworthy. Beam is a player that showed up to our PGH Showcase this Fall and dominated. She was easily one of the best prospects in the gym and she has continued to show what she can to start off this Junior year of her’s. This Jaguars team is young and getting their feet underneath themselves still but if they put it together, they could make some sort of run come Playoff time. Beam is a SG standing at 5’10/5’11 and she is versatile. She can be your driver and attack at the basket, she can catch and knock down three’s, she can work out of the Midpost, and she can even post up smaller defenders that get in her way when she has time + space. With all that being said, Beam is still learning. She just needs to keep working and the results will be promising.

proved to everyone watching yesterday that she is going to be a vital piece to her high school team’s success over the next two years at the Varsity level. Beam is a SG/CG and she does all the little things right. Offensively, she can be your producer as a scoring threat, she can create for others around her, or she can move off the ball and produce as a cutter/slasher. Defensively, with her mixture of height and speed, she can switch between a few different positions to guard at this time. Beam stood out on Sunday as one of the best overall and most complete players in the gym. If you asked her to do anything, she would – no questions asked. If she can keep that up moving into this Winter, I’m sure she will be a name we hear about more and more as the season presses on.

exploded on to the scene as this weekend’s showcase. Her ability to rip and go past defenders while keeping players on her back was really impressive today, and her ability to take up space off the dribble was fun to watch. Shes’s a big guard who knows how to attack gaps, kick the ball to open teammates, and create closeout situations. Additionally she’s got a solid shot from deep and composure to boot. I’m really looking forward to watching more of Beam this season for Ankeny Centennial.
