It’s going to be an interesting situation at Dowling Catholic the next few years for Loralai Gilmore but I think by the time she gets to being a Junior/Senior, that she will be on the Varsity floor for a majority of their minutes. Gilmore is a 6’1 Forward, that navigates pretty well near the hoop. In most other Varsity systems across the state, she would start but at DC, it’s different. They don’t play many players at the Varsity level, they have a future D1 prospect already dominating the lane for two more years in Ellie Muller Ellie Muller 6'3" | PF Dowling Catholic | 2026 State IA , and they win a lot because of both of those factors so I don’t expect anything to change moving forward. Gilmore is a solid prospect by the hoop, that is going to be a steal for some collegiate program one day if her ambitions are to continue on her basketball journey following high school. She demonstrated glimpses of promise over and over this weekend, while competing against some other talented Forwards. All in all, she had a better day than a lot of others and it was noteworthy from afar.

I’m not sure that Loralai Gilmore Loralai Gilmore 6'1" | C Dowling Catholic | 2027 State IA is going to get a ton of Varsity playing time this upcoming Winter at Dowling Catholic when they most likely will only have a 7-man rotation but in due time, Gilmore should become someone that comes in to protect the rim on the defensive side for the Maroons. Gilmore stands as one of the taller prospects in the 2027 Class in the state of Iowa at 6’1, she has balance and coordination within her play style, and she understands what’s going on around her at all times. The only thing that isn’t ideal for her is that the prospect playing in front of her in Ellie Muller Ellie Muller 6'3" | PF Dowling Catholic | 2026 State IA is 6’3 and a future Power-5 Division 1 player but that shouldn’t deter her efforts. As long as she can learn from Muller and she continues to be a play-maker on defense, she is going to see the floor before her high school career comes to close. She just needs to stay motivated as she patiently waits for her turn.

Last year Loralai Gilmore Loralai Gilmore 6'1" | C Dowling Catholic | 2027 State IA didn’t see the floor too much at Dowling Catholic and I’m hoping that changes around this Winter. Gilmore stands at 6’1, she is only a prospect out of the 2027 Class, and she is learning behind a very good Post player in Ellie Muller Ellie Muller 6'3" | PF Dowling Catholic | 2026 State IA . Next week I’ll be excited to see how Gilmore goes out and competes. She is going to get chances little by little this Summer and hopefully she can turn that into more this upcoming Winter.
