of Dowling Catholic High School out of the DSM area. Austin has been somewhat underrated over the last couple of years within the DC program because the individuals around her have been so talented but I expect Austin to take over this season as someone who can produce on both ends. We have watched Austin make several different plays throughout this Showcase. Offensively, she has gotten all the way to the hoop for tough finishes through traffic. She has also been really good in open space, getting to her spots for open looks at every offensive level. She understands where to go – when, demonstrating her situational awareness and when you pair that with her skill, you start to see the promise that could be at the Varsity level over the next two seasons.

when you look at her size and position on paper. Austin is a 5’10 CG, that moves around wherever she is needed at the Guard position. She isn’t primarily set at one spot VS another. It’s more-so about where she can fit in to help those around her when they might be struggling. I’m excited to see Austin at this event against some of the others. Like I’ve mentioned, the Guard talent in the building will be impressive so to see how everyone matches up is going to be a major key. I think Austin can play her role, stand out in moments she seizes, and everything in between but we will just need to wait to see.

It’s going to be all about a young core this Winter at Dowling Catholic as they try to make up for the lost production of recent graduate, Ellie Muller. Someone that should step onto the court for a good amount of play timing is Molly Austin. Austin mainly moves off of the ball and produces at the 2 or 3 position. She can bring the ball up and be the PG but they have better PG’s on roster so I’d assume when she gets onto the court, it’s going to mainly be as the 2 or 3. Austin is going to have to continue to be a player of opportunity from the outside. She will need to move into space off the ball at a steady rate. If she can do that, others will find her for easy and open shot attempts. Defensively, she is going to do whatever she is asked to the best of her ability and that is something that should standout throughout the Winter as a whole.
