The Missouri Stealth are a brand new AAU program out of Missouri and they are going to make some waves within recruitment within the Midwest. They recently locked in one of their future GUAA Guards for next season in Adrienne Sears Adrienne Sears 5'10" | CG Dowling Catholic | 2029 State IA of Dowling Catholic High School. Sears is a Top 5 rated prospect out of her 2029 Class in Iowa. She played meaningful minutes last year for Dowling Catholic and she will return this Winter with even more responsibility on her plate. This is someone that could be a next level Guard, literally. She checks off a lot of boxes recruiters already have and she still has three more seasons to grow before she steps onto the collegiate floor. That’s pretty impressive.

Recent Offer: D1 – Marquette (WI)

We are starting to see the D1 offers trickle in for Adrienne Sears of Dowling Catholic High School. Sears, the skilled CG, is a hooper with size, skill, and presence. She is extremely intelligent when it comes to the X’s and O’s of the game and she doesn’t force any unneeded action while trying to accomplish anything on either side of the floor. My biggest question for Sears throughout the rest of her career will be, “Can she take over?” She didn’t need to do that last season with DC and she won’t this upcoming season either so it really comes down to a question of where are her limits. Where do things start to become difficult for her? At what level? We might not be able to answer this question until she is already on a collegiate roster. All I know right now is that Sears is going to continue to bring in D1 offers until she commits. Especially at her current pace.

After receiving her first D1 offer this past week from Drake, Adrienne Sears Adrienne Sears 5'10" | CG Dowling Catholic | 2029 State IA has been competing with a chip on her shoulder in Las Vegas with her AIA EYBL program. Being on this specific team it can be hard being a standout. This group is one that is LOADED at every position. So much so that if you told me each of their players will end up competing at the D1 level one day in college, I would 100% whole-heartedly believe you and that’s not something we have ever really seen from a younger group at this age level out of Iowa but they. can. GO! Sears is a selfless PG/CG, who loves getting others involved around her. She plays more as a 2 or 3 because she isn’t a pure 1 but that doesn’t change the fact that she could start as a Varsity PG on most teams across the state of Iowa this Winter if she wanted too. She just happens to play at one of the most prestigious schools in the DSM area and that’s why she is trusting the process within that program.

The future possibilities and potential of Adrienne Sears is still to be seen and that’s noteworthy when you consider that she saw A LOT of time last Winter at the powerhouse that is Dowling Catholic. Sears isn’t just good at scoring and defending, she is someone that you can plug in anywhere at the Guard position as a coach and she is going to give it her all, usually producing some impressive results throughout. Sears will have more of a central role this Winter for DC for her Sophomore season. She will officially be apart of their, “three headed monster”, and I can’t wait to see how she does with that responsibility because this is someone who can GO.

Sears had a lot of run this season on the Varsity floor with Dowling Catholic as their CG/PG. It’s never easy moving into well known program that wins a lot. Especially when that program possesses multiple D1 athletes but Sears did a great job of picking her moments this past season. Just like McCann, this is someone that made great choices down the stretch. She stayed aggressive but within her own ability and she always left it all on the floor as it pertains to her effort level every time she laced up her kicks. As the years move on, Sears will become their top dawg on both sides of the floor. If she continues progressing, she should go down as a Top Five PG in DC history and that is rare air. This a category that includes Caitlin Clark and Ava Zediker so whenever you’re thrown into a possible conversation with those two, you know you can play.

Sears was a player I had only seen highlights of prior to Friday night games, but I knew she was a very talented player who was highly thought of by a lot of evaluators. It was clear after a couple minutes why her stock is so high in the eyes of so many. Adrienne was strong and confident on the ball, using some sneaky ball handling to evade traps and her speed to blow by and through them. She attacked the basket and scored several times showing a lot toughness on one play right before the half as she pushed the ball up the court, hit a hesitation move at the three point line freezing the defender, and then casually strolled to the basket and waslaying the ball up before coming down hard on her ankle. She was back in action in the second half doing more of what she did so well in the first, rebounding the ball and pushing the ball in transition of ready buckets. Sears showed her shooting prowess from deep and was deceptively quick. She is a player who was not afraid to assert herself in the game and I look forward to watching her play again.

Adrienne Sears Adrienne Sears 5'10" | CG Dowling Catholic | 2029 State IA has been playing her role at DC to perfection so far this Winter season. Sears was just currently ranked at #6 in our last Player Rankings Update but she will be moving into the Top Five following this high school season with how well she is playing. When I looked at Sear’s stat line last week, I was surprised that Sears was so conservative from the field. She really open shoots when open or when she is taking it to the rack, which is something you don’t hate from a coaching perspective. Sears is sitting right around 50% on the season from the floor on the offensive side of things. A percentage that I expect to stay consistent as we move into the Post season in a few months.

Adrienne Sears Adrienne Sears 5'10" | CG Dowling Catholic | 2029 State IA has been stepping up this season as a Freshman for Dowling Catholic. Sears, the 5’10 CG, is moving all around the floor so far this year, playing whichever Guard position she is needed at when she is on the floor. When you are a young hooper in a successful program, you take what minutes you get and you make the most of those minutes. Sears progression over the next few years should continue to be noteworthy. She has better than average size for her age, she is understands how the game is played from a strategic standpoint, and she has shown up against elite competition over her young career so far. In this Update, Sears sits right outside the Top Five at #6. A position she should be proud about but not satisfied with moving forward.

The 2029 Class in Iowa is very special. There is a lot of potential talent, that one day could compete at the P4 Division-1 level. Now we haven’t seen a Freshman play significant minutes for Dowling Catholic in a few years so that Adrienne Sears Adrienne Sears 5'10" | CG Dowling Catholic | 2029 State IA is consistently on the floor, means something. Sears is coordinated with a soft touch on the ball and impressive natural instincts. She has been playing more of a CG spot between the 2 and 3 when in-game but she could also handle up the floor if need be as the 1 in tight situations. We saw flashed of Sears’ in this one. She made some productive plays with a lot of skill around her. I’m sure Sears is only going to become more talented with the more experience she has so that she is already seeing time for the Maroons is meaningful.

Adrienne Sears Adrienne Sears 5'10" | CG Dowling Catholic | 2029 State IA is coming into high school with a chance to start as a Freshman on Dowling Catholic. That is not something we say every often. Maybe once every few years. Even if she ends up not starting, I do see her getting minutes at the Varsity level on a consistent basis. This is a guard with better than average size at 5’10, a lot of promise, and a hungry to stand out whenever possible. She is coming off of a National Championship with her AIA EYBL team and she is looking to build onto the momentum before you know it.
