I’ve received some positive feedback from college coaches about Lewitzke over the first month and a half of grassroots basketball. She’s gotten back in the swing of things and made some plays with the ball. However, she’s also a competitive player who can play mind games and get opposing players out of their game. She has an edge to her game that most will appreciate.

It’s been a stop-and-start go of it so far in the prep ranks for Lewitzke, with a few knee injuries over the past few seasons. However, when she’s gotten some consistent run, she’s looked solid and has shown some flashes over the first month or so of the grassroots season. The Bay Port guard is a kid who can handle the ball and create with it in her hands, and the game has started to slow back down for now that she’s been back to playing for a few months.

Madeline is TOUGH. The handle is the main thing that sets her apart from some of the other guards I watched today, and it’s not because it’s flashy. It’s the fact that her moves cover ground, and she uses them to get downhill, not just to move laterally. She has no issue repositioning herself to be a playmaking guard, either. She knows when to attack, when to kick, and the IQ and discipline to be a smart, risky passer are there as well. As she leans more into her ability to score from the midrange and three, I believe her game will open up a lot more over time.

Step back jumper is nice, under control! Madeline is all over the floor- she creates opportunities at the rim, and it either results in points, or she gets to the line! Nice job splitting the defense! (Below shooting)

Lewinski is a strong ball-handler and does a great job at setting up the offense. With her quick bursts of speed, she is able to maneuver around defenders and can exploit angles to drive all the way to the basket and finish at the rim. She also poses a shooting threat from the perimeter – although she doesn’t take many shots, she makes them count when she is open. She demonstrates impressive maturity for her age, especially as a freshman playing the point guard position at the Division I high school level. Currently, she is averaging 5.4 points per game for Bay Port and has an impressive shooting percentage of 46% from the field.
