put together a strong freshman season and already has a few Division I offers to show for her early success. With valuable varsity experience now under her belt, Evans enters the next stage of her development with tremendous upside.
Evans brings size, skill, and versatility that make her difficult to match up against. She can score around the basket, step out offensively, and rebound effectively on both ends of the floor. Her ability to impact the game inside while continuing to expand her perimeter skill set makes her a very intriguing prospect.
Defensively, Evans uses her length and physicality to alter shots and compete in the paint. As she continues developing into a more complete player, she is becoming one of the early names many believe could eventually factor into the 2029 Indiana Miss Basketball conversation.

Maliyah Evans is another exciting young player to watch in Indiana’s Class of 2029. She gained plenty of attention during her freshman season at Pike, but after watching her compete during the AAU season, she has quickly become one of the top guards to watch across the entire state.
Evans plays with a high level of competitiveness and energy, which makes her extremely fun to watch. Her ability to finish around the rim, create scoring opportunities, and consistently knock down shots from the perimeter makes her a dangerous offensive threat. She continues to show confidence and toughness while competing against high-level talent.
Her strong play has already earned her scholarship offers from Purdue, Toledo, and Eastern Illinois. As she continues to develop and gain exposure, Evans looks poised to become one of the premier guards in Indiana’s 2029 class.

Malyiah is one of those prospects who will be fun to watch over the next 3 years. She has all the talent and upside to battle for #1 in the 2029 class, but she has also spent the last year or so growing and continuing to improve her skillset and figure out her all-around game. She was a part of a loaded backcourt at Pike this season but still managed 5.5 points and 3.1 rebounds per game. She is long, athletic, and can be utilized as a point forward/creator or as a slashing scorer offensively. Defensively, she can play with versatility and defend 3 or 4 positions effectively.

Maliyah Evans continues to impress me with her consistent impact on both ends of the floor. What has really stood out recently is the added aggressiveness she’s bringing to her game. She’s not just playing within the flow anymore she’s actively looking to make plays, assert herself offensively, and take on bigger defensive matchups. That growth shows a clear understanding of what it takes to elevate her game to the next level.
Offensively, she does a great job handling the basketball and creating opportunities for herself and her teammates. She’s showing more confidence attacking the basket, making strong reads, and playing with purpose every time she touches the ball. Defensively, her size and length continue to be major assets. She uses them well to disrupt passing lanes, contest shots, and guard multiple positions effectively.
It’s clear she’s putting in the work and preparing herself for the next level. If she continues on this trajectory playing with this level of confidence, effort, and aggression there’s no doubt she will attract more attention. She should see an increase in offers throughout the spring and summer as college programs begin to recognize the value she brings on both ends of the floor.

play because she clearly understands her role on Pike’s team and executes it to near perfection—something that can be difficult for a freshman. She plays with poise well beyond her years, showcasing a smooth, controlled style while consistently bringing energy and intensity off the bench.
Evans finished with 8 points in the win, but her impact went beyond the box score. The highlight of the night came when she delivered a beautiful behind-the-back assist to her fellow freshman,

Already holding Division I offers, Evans is poised to see her recruitment continue to grow this spring and summer during the AAU season. With her feel for the game, confidence, and steady improvement, she is a player who will only continue to get better as her high school career progresses.

stood out during the showcase as one of the top guards in attendance. She brings an aggressive mentality and a clear desire to be the best every time she steps on the court—a quality that was on full display this past weekend. Evans is a creative player who can score in a variety of ways. She uses her handles, length, and athleticism to beat defenders and finish at the rim, while also showing the ability to knock down shots from beyond the three-point line, making her extremely difficult to guard. Beyond her skills, Evans brings energy, competitiveness, and excitement to every game. As she enters her freshman year with the Pike Lady Devils, she’s poised to make an immediate impact and contribute to the program’s ongoing success.

Malyiah is a point/combo guard prospect who immediately impressed me immediately with her athleticism, length, handles, court vision, and passing instincts at the Freshman Showcase. She had the ball on a string and changed directions confidently with both hands, while scanning the floor. Malyiah has college range from beyond the arc. She drained a deep triple from the slot and added a straightaway volleyball line bomb off the dribble. Malyiah used her long arms to block multiple shots on the defensive end and jumped into the passing lane for a swipe and score. She attacked middle on a drive, landed under control, and pivoted to bury the free throw jumper. I noted that Malyiah was a great distributor and her entry passes resulted in several assists. She finished transition layups with ease and turned in a complete performance for Team 4 that earned her recognition as a Top Performer.
