Jaquet looked comfortable from the opening possession Sunday, seemingly unaffected by the pace or physicality of the competition. The 5’8 Sioux Valley guard combines a strong build with smooth movement, good court awareness and was quite opportunistic. More than once she appeared trapped in a precarious situation, only to execute a Houdini-like escape thanks to her quality vision and on-court composure. Jaquet also impressed defensively, demonstrating the discipline, lateral quickness and intelligence to make life difficult for opponents. Coming from Sioux Valley’s winning culture, Matilynn plays with the understanding and confidence of someone who has been taught the game the right way.
