Elkhorn South is going to be a young team, returning a good amount of producers from years past but MJ Leonard MJ Leonard 5'10" | CG/SF Elkhorn South | 2029 State NE should be able to make a difference within their system before you know it. Leonard, a 5’10 CG/SF, does the simple things really well off of the basketball. She moves without having possession behind the defense at a high rate – creating simple looks, she can screen away – freeing up space for others, and she can score in iso-situations if need be when she does catch it. Defensively, she is a weapon to have because she is a Swiss-army knife, who can move around to a few different spots to lock down whoever might be across from her. There is a lot of to like her. Now it’s all about making it translate in real time.

Length, athletic ability, natural size, discipline. These are just a few of the words I would use to describe MJ Leonard MJ Leonard 5'10" | CG/SF Elkhorn South | 2029 State NE and what she brings to the hardwood every time she laces up her kicks. Leonard is a 5’10 CG, that is in the situation of being positioned between a 2, 3, and 4 right now. She isn’t a natural at any of these positions but she is very good at all of them, always yielding positive results in one way or another when she is playing. I do think that this is someone that can play at the varsity level right away or at least she should practice with that squad so that she can get better and be an impact player by her sophomore season at the very latest. The Storm have a young, hungry program so who knows how it’ll all shake out come Winter time. As for Leonard, she is going to continue to worry about herself and that is going to help her tremendously in the long-run.

MJ Leonard or McKenlee Leonard competes in 3-4 sports, demonstrating that she is very active and athletic in everything she does. On the basketball court, she competes as a Forward/3-guard right now because of her size and skill-set but I’m sure that will change over-time. Usually in these situations, prospects like Leonard turn into solid PG’s or SG’s at around 5’7-5’8. If she can use some of that athleticism when she competes in the future and she works on the skill-side this next twelve months, I’m sure she is going to look like a natural walking onto the high school scene before you know it in a couple of years. Whatever high school that may be.
