Cooks is a “long and athletic” guard, and that too, is the base. Her acrobatic finishes have always impressed me, yet doing them after contact has taken it to a different level. She also did a good job of hitting teammates in traffic for good looks, but her court vision across the board was solid, as was her defense. She also gave me the “stop and pop” jumper as well as the “catch and shoot”

Cooks can attack the rim using an explosive first step, or she can use the slight HEZ to catch the defender off balance, but her acrobatic finishes always leave me smiling. She uses her athleticism on both ends, and her “on the ball” pressure can frustrate ballhandlers, but her pull-up jumper can do the same to defenders

Cooks is always “COOKIN” in some way, but watching her set the defender up with the slight HEZ then blowing by them, both in the set as well as the open court, was nice, yet even nicer were her acrobatic finishes after contact. She saw the floor, gave me the pull-up jumper from mid to long range, yet her “catch and shoot” with a hand in her face was also solid

Cooks has been “COOKIN” since I caught her initially five years ago see evaluation here and her ability to get by defenders continues to impress me. Her crossover and FLOTA to score got me going, and so did her jumper and court vision

Cooks is always “cooking” and her being a “long and athletic” guard keeps the flame on high. She attacked and scored, dropped the pull-up jumper with a hand in her face, and did a good job on defense, this included playing the passing lane

Cooks has been missed by me probably all last season yet watching her slice by defenders to score or dish was nice. Her court vision across the board was good, so was her jumper yet she also read the floor and played the passing lane, and did a good job defensively

I last caught Cooks in the second round of the state playoffs, and in September she is already playing like she is in playoff mode. More impressive than her speed, is her attitude. Because of her speed, Cooks receives constant contact. But whether a foul is called, or there is no foul and everybody in the gym is verbally assaulting officials for their lack of whistle blowing, Cooks is cool calm and collected. She hit buzzer beater threes, and is on the verge of having a true breakout junior campaign.

Cooks understands how to control the tempo, how to run a squad and how to get everyone involved yet being a “long and athletic” guard with a very nice first she also understand show to take games over, either by attacking thew basket, which she can do using either hand, or showing the jumper. Her finishes after contact are nice, so is her court vision but she applies “on the ball” pressure and plays the passing lane

Cooks is a gamer and already understands how to put her team on her back when needed yet she also understands that the game starts at the 1 and observing her find the right player to get the ball to at the right time and her decision making stood out at the Houston Christian camp. With so many platforms out there and teams playing all over the place, I don’t get to see everyone but I have seen enough of her to know she’s a Top 100 player, not just because of her “no look” passes in traffic or her crossover going full speed, it’s because of many other things like her scoring off the dribble as well as from outside
