One of the top post players in the state of Maryland is Kirstin Huggins. The 6’2 forward is getting interest from quite a few Division III schools as well as a few Division II schools. Huggins is a player who has the ability to score down in the post at a high level with the ability to step out to the perimeter and knock down shots.
Huggins has taken quite a few visits thus far in her recruitment. Her lone official visit was to Stevenson, but Huggins has been to all of the D3’s that have shown interest besides Covenant – a visit that she is taking this month.
Huggins really enjoyed the visit to Stevenson as she detailed to me.
“Awesome,” Huggins said. “I loved the atmosphere there, and the campus is really new with lots of great opportunities. The coaches are fantastic and it felt like a family just from my visit.”
Huggins is a player who is really solid down in the post and is a leader on the floor. Huggins brings a positive energy that not many other players bring to their team. This season Huggins tells me that she has a significant leadership position. She is adjusting to that position but she loves being in that position for her team. Huggins season is going really well so far this season as she is playing well and she is loving her position of being a captain and a leader on the floor.
Huggins is going to end up making a college coach at the next level very happy with the work ethic and post scoring that she brings. She loves the game of basketball and she is hoping that it spills over into next season for a college program. As a coach, you can trust her with her high basketball IQ and instincts that she portrays on the floor at all times.
