In lieu of the August rankings update, here are a few more names that have made a case to move up the charts and some off the radar players that made a case to be added for the first time.
DYON HAWKINS – 5’7″ – WING – TEAM EXCEL – 2021
Dyon HawkinsDyon got stronger each time we saw her play. She is good in transition getting to the basket and finishing. Her real value was in her ability to take defenders one on one off the dribble. She absorbs contact, finishes and also makes free throws.
SAMANTHA SELEDEE – 5’6″ – GUARD – MID ATLATIC LEGACY – 2021
This was our first time getting a look a Samantha and she impressed with her energy. She ran the floor hard on every play and usually got ahead of the defense for a layup. She showed the ability to also finish when contested.
JACQUELINE DIANIS – 5’8″ – GUARD – TEAM SOL – 2020
Jacqueline DianisJacqueline had multiple 20 point games against pretty good competition. Her weapon of choice is the three pointer a shot she can hit from virtually anywhere with a high volume of her makes coming from the corner.
GABRIELLE FRANKS – 6’2″ – POST – MARYLAND LADY TIGERS – 2021
Gabrielle FranksAniyah has a very good body and good size. She creates space down low and rebounds well. She has good interior defense and is a very strong finisher down low.
MIKAYA TYNES – 6’2″ – FORWARD – BOO WILLIAMS – 2021
Makaya is strong inside and has a good feel of getting to where the rebound is going to land. She is listed at 6’3″ and plays that way may be closer to 6’2″. She has the athleticism and agility to transition to a perimeter wing.
Mikaya TynesALEXANDRA WANAT – 5’10” – WING – POTOMAC VALLEY CLASSICS – 2023
Alexandra will be an immediate impact in the WCAC in her freshman season at Good Counsel. She has size and uses her body to rebound but her ability to shoot the ball from deep will create match up problems for defenses.
LEAH KEYES – 5’6″ – WING – TEAM TAKEOVER – 2024
Leah made good things happen each time she touched the floor. She is instant offense scoring with her shot or off the dribble. She is a very active defender and is high school already a ready player.
