Stock Risers: Rising Junior Guards to Know (2021)

<span style="font-weight: 400">As players and teams hope to get back on the court this summer, several players have caught our eye in recent months in the 2021 class that are poised for a big senior season in 2020-21. Among them are all-state selections [player_tooltip player_id="123552" first="Alli" last="Puetz"], Garden Plain, and [player_tooltip player_id="124988" first="Landrea" last="Sears"], Sedan, among others.</span> <b>Mya Maxwell, 5’7, G, 2021, Ellinwood </b> <span style="font-weight: 400">A nice scoring option who has a good future giving her size and skills and overall productivity. She has a good shot from outside and can get inside and score around the basket. She averaged team-high 15.4 points per game and added 5.8 rebounds, 1.8 steals, 1.3 assists and points 6 blocks per game. A multiple sport athlete who has good agility and can get up and make plays through the air.</span> <b>[player_tooltip player_id="123552" first="Alli" last="Puetz"], 5’7, G, 2021, Garden Plain</b> <span style="font-weight: 400">Puetz is a multiple position player who can operate as a scorer and rebounder. She is good at finding position for her size and can secure rebounds on both ends of the floor. She has the ability to score in bunches and can connect from three-point range but looks to share the ball as well. Puetz has a high IQ and is a multiple-sport athlete who looks to keep her teammates involved and make plays off the ball when nothing else is happening.</span> <b>Railey Robertson, 5’8, G,  2021, Southeast-Cherokee</b><span style="font-weight: 400"> </span> <span style="font-weight: 400">An all-around playmaker who looks to use her speed and strength to her advantage. Robertson is a good-sized guard at 5’8 who can handle the ball, score and is good at staying in front of her opponent’s and coming away with the ball. She sets a tone defensively but also as a rebounder. Robertson averaged 12 points, 6.2 rebounds, four steals, 2.6 assists and one block per game as a junior.</span> <b>Emma Sabine, 5’8, G, 2021, Pleasanton</b><span style="font-weight: 400"> </span> <span style="font-weight: 400">A player who can block shots, forced turnovers and make moves offensively as well. Sabine is a two-way guard who can see time inside defensively given her size and agility but can handle responsibilities on the perimeter as a scoring guard. She can create something with her handles but is a good catch-and-shoot player from three-point range who has good shooting mechanics and an eye for openings.</span> <b>[player_tooltip player_id="124988" first="Landrea" last="Sears"], G, 2022, Sedan</b> <span style="font-weight: 400">A combo guard who sees time as a ball handler and scorer. She is great at anticipating her opponent’s moves and passes and can jump out and tip away the ball and get fast-break looks. She is strong on both ends of the floor and is a good score and facilitator but also looks to rebound and stay with the ball and get in her opponent’s head. She averaged 11.3 points, 2.9 assists, 4.4 rebounds and an impressive four steals per game.</span> <b>[player_tooltip player_id="160933" first="Caitlin" last="Williams"], G, 2021, Sedan</b> <span style="font-weight: 400">Williams is a strong overall playmaker who can score and come away with the ball and get in the heads of her opponents. She led her team in scoring and steals per game and showed good instincts and control and a lot of leadership. She can control the tempo and just has a way of scoring on her own. Williams averaged 13.5 points, two assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game her junior year.</span> &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;
