Mazie Helpman (2022) came out strong for Team Carolina hitting a big three pointer, and that continued for her throughout the game. She was a strong defender, too, grabbing her own steals and rebounds to end the possession for her opponents.
Emma Larios continues to shine every time she gets the chance to compete on the court. She is aggressive on defense racking up steals that easily convert to fast break points for her. She is constantly aware of where she is on the court and where her teammates are in order to make the most successful play. She has a great shot from all around, and she controls the tempo of the game as one of the main ball handlers for her team. She consistently blows by defenders whether she uses her speed, crossover moves, or some hesitation to throw them off their feet.
Katie Alexander continues to show her high basketball IQ finding herself always in a position to make a contribution whether she is preparing for a rebound or moving to an open spot to catch a pass. On defense, she does the same coming up for a trap opportunity or jumping into passing lanes. It is common for her to grab a rebound and move speedily down the court for her solo fast break. She is one of the more vocal players as well showing her leadership skills even at this young of an age. As someone who inbounds the ball for her team frequently, she shows amazing patience waiting for the play to develop in order to make the best pass.
EP Sluder had some great ball movement dribbling and passing to her open teammates. She was aggressive driving the ball, and she did not show fear when going up against difficult contact. She was all over the court on defense and one of the most vocal players in girls basketball constantly talking to her teammates helping support them.
Evangelia Paulk is a tall athlete who used her length to create multiple steals and convert them to fast break points herself. She did well pushing the ball up the court and did not shy away from contact when making the layup. Additionally, she can shoot well from behind the arc. She showed good anticipation when on defense using the opportunity to jump into passing lanes for steals.
