Continue ReadingLet’s move over to the perimeter and take a look at some players that display high-level skills like shooting the 3 ball, getting to the rim on the drive, pulling up for the mid-range J, and making the transition game look like a piece of cake. The kids below here are pure sharpshooters that can stroke the ball from just about anywhere on the court, and make it look simple. These five “junior to be” shooting guards are going to evolve into tremendous college players, and have the potential to become high-caliber prospects as years go on. Let’s now take some piano lessons on these ballers and see why their key notes have the ability to stand out above the rest.
- Makayla Boatman Makayla Boatman 5'6" | SG North Polk | 2023 State IA , 5’8, SG, North Polk, 2023
–Makayla is a kid that has loads of natural talent and skill that is not very difficult to identify. Her greatest asset on the court is no doubt her 3-point shooting. She is a nightmare out on the wing; triggering 3 ball after 3 ball with a quick release and a deadly stroke. She has fantastic range, as she hits many of them from beyond the 3-point line. She also can shoot the 3 off the dribble as well, which makes her very effective out there. She is a tremendous ball handler, and can drive to the basket and finish with both hands. I like her scoop shot. She appears to have a little more height then what she is listed at, as she has some length to her. She excels in the open floor and the transition game, and can finish at the rim with ease against taller defenders. Her effort on the defensive end is good, and she can pick up steals with her athleticism. She has a good feel for the game, and can get dimes out to her teammates too. I see a big future for her, as I believe she has the skills to become a very special player at the college level. Expect her to raise her stock and receive interest from many colleges this 2021 AAU season with the All Iowa Attack team. Enjoy!
2. Jenna Twedt Jenna Twedt 5'8" | SG Benton | 2023 State IA , 5’8, SG, Benton, 2023
–Jenna is a kid that can become an elite level college prospect, as she has the talent to do so. She can pile up the scoreboard with her scoring prowess, as well as the stat sheet with a good all around game in every statistical category. She can obviously score the basketball, and can do it from any place on the court. She brings a tremendous feel to the game as a point or two guard, as she has the ability to put the ball in the net on most, if not every possession. Her best asset is her capability to get to the rim and finish with both hands. This is what impressed me most about her. She has great aggression too. I like her 3-point shot, and she can also take it off the bounce and pull up for two in the lane. She is very unselfish, and makes some good passes out to teammates to set them up for easy shots. She is very versatile with her ability to thrive at both positions in the backcourt. She can grab the rebounds as well, and can be a force on the boards. She was second in Class 4A in scoring this recent high school season, totaling up 430 points as a standout sophomore. I believe she can elevate into a great college player, and will be fun to watch as years go on. Expect her to make it a priority to make her presence known this 2021 AAU season with the Team Iowa team. Enjoy!
3. Meena Tate Meena Tate 5'11" | SG Iowa City West | 2023 State IA , 5’9, SG, Iowa City West, 2023
–Meena is a kid that is very fundamentally sound. It’s very evident she has a great feel for the game, and understands how to be a tremendous off guard. What caught my attention right away was her ability to drive to the basket and finish shots in the lane with both hands. She has great guard skills on the perimeter, and can dish out some outstanding passes to teammates. Her 3-point shooting is good, as she has a great shot that is pure. Her capability to finish at the rim several ways makes her a signficant two guard that can be difficult to handle and guard for opposing teams. I like her effort on the defensive end to pull down the boards, even though she is lacking some height, this does not stop her from mixing it up with the bigs. This proves her aggression, athleticism, and tenacity. Her scoring average will go up tremendously next season, and she has the talent to be one of the leading scorers next season. I also believe that she can develop into a high-level college player, and is only going to get better as years go on. Expect her to thrive and make a name for herself this 2021 AAU season with the Lady Martin Brothers team. Enjoy!
4. Haidyn Hull Haidyn Hull 5'9" | SG Grinnell | 2023 State IA , 5’9, SG, Grinnell, 2023
–Haidyn is a kid that is a pure shooter who can rack up the 3-pointers in a hurry. She has a quick release with great form. She is an adept ball handler, and can drive to the basket while finishing with both hands. Her effort to thrive on both ends of the floor is very clear; as she can steal the ball and pick off passes on the defensive end. It is not uncommon to see her block a shot every now and then as well. She has the ability to be an elite rebounder. Her energy, passion, and leadership skills are all worth mentioning; as she appears to be a great team player and displays a high ambition to win at all times. I definitely believe that she can become an outstanding college player. With her versatility, she could develop into a high-level perimeter player. Expect her to make some noise this 2021 AAU season with the Lady Pure Prep team. Enjoy!
5. Finley Hall Finley Hall 5'7" | SG West Liberty | 2023 State IA , 5’7, SG, West Liberty, 2023
–Finley is a kid that is a serious 3-point shooting assassin. She just drops 3-point daggers all night long, and does it with no effort. Her shot is as pure as can be, and I like her quick release on her shot. She also can drive to the basket while being able to finish with both hands. I like her aggressive mentality on both ends of the floor, as she can get into passing lanes in the press or the half court and pick up steals. She has a good knowledge of the game, and has a high basketball IQ. She is also a good passer, and can dish out some tremendous dimes to teammates. I believe she is a player with great upside, and has the potential to evolve into a terrific shooting guard at the college level. With her ability to stroke the 3 ball and total guard game, anything is possible when determining what collegiate level. Expect her to raise her stock and be a spark this 2021 AAU season with the Team Iowa team. Enjoy!
