Western only suited up 7 players and Churchill came out ready to compete so the game was compelling for two and a half quarters. Western standout guard Ny’Ceara Pryor went down with an injured ankle in the third quarter with the score 39-34 in Western’s favor. She came back a short while after that and the Doves went on a 25-1 run to put the game away. The final score was 86-56.
Breasia Coit, Western, 2024, Center
Breasia played a great game to help the Doves advance. She is a legit 6’3″ and has improved a great deal this season. She grabbed every rebound in reach and finished strong around the basket. She scored 17 points to go along with double digit rebounds and really controlled the paint.
Gabrielle Johnson, Western, 2022, Guard
“Showtime” Gabby had her fingerprints all over this game to set the tone early. She exploded out the gate in the first quarter for several transition baskets while battling in the paint for rebounds. She put tremendous pressure on Churchill’s defense while applying pressure to their ball handlers on the other end. She was a beast in the passing lanes, coming up with several steals which led to points for herself or her teammates. She finished with 27 points.
Ny’Ceara Pryor, Western, 2022, Guard
“Lil Mama” scored a game high 31 points in what was a near triple double performance for her. She was dominant on both ends of the floor, pushing the pace and and creating havoc on defense. These performances have become routine for her.
Allison Coleman, Winston Churchill, 2023, Center
Allison has a legit size at about 6’3″. She has a nice touch around the basket and solid footwork. She used some nice up and under moves to create space to get her shots off. She has good hands and finished with 15 points.
Chelsea Calkins, Winston Churchill, 2023, Guard
Chelsea had a great game, scoring a team high 20 points. She dropped four three pointers and looked really confident when letting it fly. She pitched in with some ball handling duties so she could probably contribute as a combo guard at the next level. She competed hard on defense, coming up with some steals in the passing lanes.
