Continue ReadingBockenstedt returns to Marion High School for her senior year ready to make her mark following a solid junior season. Leading the Wolves with 40 blocks and shooting 44% from the field last season she returns to show she is much more than just a defensive stopper who can score down low. With her length, mixed with her athleticism and basketball knowledge, the William Jewell College basketball commit is poised to be a problem for any team the Wolves face this season. Following her junior high school season Ella has been consistently working on improving her outside game to become a more complete player. After watching her play AAU this summer I can say that it is definitely paying off. It will be fun to see where Ella can take her Marion High School team in 4a this upcoming season.
Callie looks to return for her junior season with even more of an impact than she did her sophomore year for the Solon Spartans. Other than being an elite scorer at all three levels, Callie lead the Spartans in assists-to-turn over ratio, while also recording 100 steals on the season. I had the chance to watch Callie at the EYBL nationals this past summer while competing with the 17u All Iowa Attack EYBL team and it is an understatement to say that she is a game changer in all facets of the game. Someone who can really impact the game on all levels, even when she is having a rough shooting day. It will be interesting to see how far she can take her Spartans team once playoffs begin.
Highlights
Libby Fandel Libby Fandel 5’11” | SF Cedar Rapids Xavier | 2025 State IA is a name you need to know if you don’t already. As a freshman Libby was a top 25 scorer on the 4a varsity level while recording 337 points on the season and leading her Xavier High School team to a state championship. After this she continued her success into her AAU season with a very good 15u Team Iowa Blue Star team which competed on the Prep Hoops Circuit as well as competing in some EYBL sponsored events. With Libby only coming into her sophomore season it only makes sense that she is receiving interest from all college levels and I don’t see that stopping anytime soon. As she grows as a player over the next few seasons while adding to her game it will be hard to see her not receiving high D1 interest as she becomes a junior and a senior.
When you want to talk about an individual who is a “stat stuffer” when it comes to the game of basketball, there is no other name that comes to mind more so than Jenna Hopp Jenna Hopp 5’11” | SG Glenwood | 2023 State IA . Jenna returns for her senior season after averaging 16.9 PPG, 6.6 RPG, and 4.2 APG. Leading her Glenwood High School to a 20-5 overall record, undefeated conference record, and to the 4a state semi-finals. Jenna ranked #2 in the class of 4a in total assists while also shooting 43% from the field and 75% from the free throw line. The South Dakota State Jackrabbits commit is poised to come in and have another great season, hopefully ending with a state championship. With the constant work she is putting in, along with Glenwood returning some other solid pieces this upcoming season, it is a goal that is very much in reach.
