Jerin Truesdale had a nice spin move in the paint scoring through contact making it a three point play. She gets in the best position to grab rebounds on both ends, and she can take it to the other end of the court on her own finding her teammates cutting quickly up the court. She knows how to block shots, too, and she didn’t hesitate stepping in to take a charge. She does a nice job getting her opponents off their feet with her shot fakes. She kept an eye out for open teammates cutting to the basket giving them perfect passes on the way to some points.
Raven Lexander showed off her versatility blocking shots on the defensive end. She stripped the ball of guards trying to drive by her. She took these steals the other direction with a nice change of direction on her way to two points finishing at the rim. She had a strong baseline drive to the hoop using the glass to score her points. She grabbed her own rebound, drove to the basket, and found her teammate to kick it to on the baseline for a two point jumper.
Maya McCorkle knocked down her deep shot around the perimeter. She’s tough and can drive hard to the basket finishing at the rim. She gets inside for rebounds no matter who is trying to get it around her, and she can take the ball coast to coast for a solo fast break. She was doing a nice job driving to the hoop finding her open teammates on the block.
Lili Booker is such a tough defender meeting her opponent at half court and getting a five second call in the first minute of a game showing how she stays ready to defend her turf. She was quick to get the ball up the court scoring in transition while her defenders still had their backs turned towards her. She showed off her range shooting the ball, too
Angel Walker was doing everything she needed to on defense seeing her opponent in front of her and boxing out whoever was around her. She was guarding a range of opponents even on the block stripping the ball away from the other team. On the other end, she had a nice spin move in transition for two points.
Serenity McNair came out strong in her first couple of games averaging a double-double with points and rebounds. Did you notice that she is a 5’5” guard grabbing that many boards? She gets her teammates involved, too, racking up assists making sure her team always has the best opportunity to score. She is fluid handling the ball blowing by her defenders with speed or changing directions to create space for herself. It’s almost as if she just sees defenders as cones in a practice drill with the way she can get around them.
Highlights
Justace Williams
Justace Williams
Justace Williams is averaging over 15 points a game, but I think what is more impressive is how many steals she is getting each game. She slides in front of her opponents zig zagging up the court making sure they can’t blow by her. She uses the sidelines as another defender as well showing her IQ on both ends of the court. She can hustle these steals up the court for her points. On the offensive side of the ball, she finds her open teammates, and she cuts hard into the paint to put up her floaters.
