Carolae was a force in the paint in this contest. She set the tone with physicality early in the game and never let up. She finished with a double-double, going for 12 points and 10 rebounds. I love her shooting touch and footwork. She has some nice inside moves and a face up game to go with it. Her mid-range shot was on, so it made her tough to defend.
Delaney led all scorers with 20 points and showed why she is one of the top players in the area. She did whatever was needed to keep St. John’s College in full control of the game. She defended at a high level, crashed the boards and set up her teammates for easy buckets. She is always fun to watch.
Kyndal showed up to play in this one and put her mark on the game from the opening tip. She controlled the offense and pace of the game, setting up teammates and breaking the defense down when it was time to score herself. She finished with 14 points but probably could have added a lot more to that total if the game didn’t get out of hand so soon. Defensively she applied real ball pressure and disrupted many of McDonogh’s possessions before they could get started.
Highlights
The standout freshman got a taste of big-time varsity basketball early in her career and acquitted herself well. After a scoreless first half she rebounded in the second half and score 10 points. She competed hard until the final buzzer and showed no fear no matter who was guarding her.
Ava finished with 11 points and played some excellent defense. She battled inside on defense and on the glass and really caused some matchup problems with her speed and high motor.
