Ollivierre is a shifty point guard who can score in bunches. She loves to get to the rim off of the dribble or in transition. She does a good job of always staying active on both sides of the floor wether her primary opponent has the ball or not. She has a good handle and can pass if being over played. Off of the dribble she does a good job creating for others as a majority of the time her defender cannot keep up with her, leading to someone else having to over-help, leading to an open shot for a teammate. Looking at the general view of things and I think that Nakia is one of the better scorers in the state, saying a lot as she is only a freshman but I need her to show it all the way through the playoffs this season. In the conference they play and the competition level in which they compete against, there are games in which it seems a little too effortless for Ollivierre. I can’t wait to see her high level of play on a state court in front of bigger audience to see what she can really do once the lights are bight and I’m sure she will not disappoint.
Highlights
Reagan Baldwin Reagan Baldwin 6’0″ | C West Des Moines Valley | 2026 State IA came into this season as one of my top centers in the freshman class and I think she is doing a good job of showing off why so far this year. Baldwin is currently averaging just over 17 PPG on 41.6% shooting in their first 13 games at Perry high school while also having her hand in a few other categories on the stat sheet as well. She has been doing a good job of making the most out of her opportunities while looking to get others involved. She has a team first mindset and plays with an unselfishness that is contagious to her teammates. Playing on a team that is senior dominate can be tough at times but in this case I think that the older players are giving Reagan a good feel for what it is like to play varsity ball right from the start. Moving forward she will look to be more dominate near the hoop and in the post. This season thus far she is 16/16 from the free throw line showing that if she gets physical in the paint and fouled, she can knock down the shots from the line. If she can stay consistent and keep up her hard work then she is going to be a tough one to stop in the next few years to come.
Trishelle Miller
Trishelle Miller
Trishelle Miller and the Sioux City East Black Raiders are leading their Missouri River Conference standings at 5-0, 9-1 overall on the year. Miller is currently averaging just over 21 PPG and 4.5 APG against her competition and making it look way too easy. Not to mention her high ceiling when it comes to her scoring ability already but when touching on her assist-to-turnover ratio she is sitting right around 2:1, an impressive number for any high school player, especially an incoming freshman. Another reason why these numbers jump off the page is because of the competition she is doing it against. She is competing in one of the biggest conferences in the state, in the largest class in the state. When you account for everything I put above you get to a conclusion that Miller has one of the highest ceilings in the state throughout any class and that by the end of her high school career she could be one of the best, if not thee best, in her class.
Sydney Doeschot Sydney Doeschot 5’8″ | PG Kingsley-Pierson | 2026 State IA was not a player that could be left off of this list. She is currently leading the class of 2026 in total points scored on the season thus far along with ranking second in steals, first in field goals made, sixth in effective field goal percentage, and fourth in defensive rebounds. All great categories to be leading through the first half of your freshman season. While averaging such great numbers in so many categories the most important part is that her team is winning. Sometimes it’s easy to see individual numbers and forget that the point of the game is to win it in a team effort and I think Sydney does a good job trying to accomplish that. Though she is a leader in so many things, you wouldn’t notice it just by watching her live. Obviously you would notice she can score at a high rate, and is a great player with a high ceiling but she never tries to force a basket or do something to speed herself up in the middle of a game. She plays with poise and passion, being a great example to everyone who is watching of how to play the game in the right way.
