McDonogh took an early 18-11 lead, but St. Frances slowly took control of the game and took a one-point lead into the halftime break. The second half was a battle of wills. as both teams made runs, but St. Frances made a few more shots down the stretch. Here are some of the impact players from the game.
Big game for “Shaq” in this one. She finished with 15 points and made some clutch free throws down the stretch. She brought the proper physicality required to deal with McDonogh’s front line and made sure she was threat to score at all times.
Kam finished with 6 points and 9 assists and really controlled the game for the Panthers. She competed hard on defense, chasing McDonogh’s super freshman Autumn Fleary Autumn Fleary 5’7″ | PG McDonogh School | 2026 State MD all over the court most of the game. She played the whole game and made good decisions in crunch time. She throws some of the best passes you will see from any point guard in the area.
Danhi had a coming out party of sorts. The freshman held her own in her first big IAAM A conference match up. She was tasked with dealing with McDonogh’s outstanding frontcourt and I think she acquitted herself quite well. She used her size and length to disrupt shots, and she fought for position without fouling excessively. Her on ball defense was solid and she was able to provide help for her teammates when they got beat. She chipped in 8 points and battled on the boards all game. She looks like four-year problem teams are going to have to solve.
Sydney was the game’s high scorer with 16 points. She nailed a huge three-pointer late in the game to seal the win for her team. She played some good defense, matching up with a much bigger player and holding her own. She has a big positive for the team in this one, doing a lot of dirty work and finding the ball. She plays well off Dorsey so she should have nice run during league play.
This wasn’t her best game, but she still put up 14 points and 9 rebounds. She battled in the paint all night and kept her team in striking distance. Her presence in the post made it easy for her teammates to get open shots from the perimeter.
