The IHSAA Sectional draw took place Sunday evening, so all of the 390+ schools participating in this year's state tournament found out when they would be playing their first game, which will take place next week. Below is a look at each of the Sectionals that will feed into the Bedford North Lawrence Regional the following weekend. This includes the Class 4A teams from Sectionals #13-#16. Please stay tuned, as this week and weekend we will have a quick synopsis of each of the 64 Sectionals across all four classifications.

Overview: Sectional #13 has been restructured with a couple of new schools moving in and a couple moving out. Mooresville made a Semi-State appearance a season ago, and despite graduating a lot of their perimeter production, they are in a good position to compete for a Sectional title once again. The interior play of Juniors [player_tooltip player_id='177326' first='Rachel' last='Harshman'] (14.1p, 7.5r, 2.0s) and [player_tooltip player_id='239348' first='Kalyn' last='Bunch'] (7.8p, 6.5r, 2.0a) will be tough for opponents to match. Not only are they strong and physical inside, but Harshman has perimeter skill and Bunch does a lot of work facing the basket in the mid-post. Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='295772' first='Ava' last='Shafer'] (7.7p, 3.8r) has stepped into a much bigger role in the backcourt and done well this season. Center Grove is always dangerous, and with their depth and balance, plus the fact they are currently #10 in the Sagarin Ratings on a Top-20 schedule, they will be a solid favorite to contend for Sectional #13. Junior [player_tooltip player_id='264111' first='Audrey' last='Annee'] (13.0p, 2.7r) has had a fantastic season. Seniors [player_tooltip player_id='59756' first='Ella' last='Hobson'] (6.2p, 2.3r, 3.8a) and [player_tooltip player_id='59729' first='Savanna' last='Bischoff'], Junior [player_tooltip player_id='177311' first='Aubrie' last='Booker'] (6.6p, 3.0r, 2.2a), and Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='295755' first='Lilly' last='Bischoff'] (6.6p, 3.1r, 2.3a) form a balanced and skillful backcourt. In addition, both Bloomington schools have posted winning records in the same season for the first time since 2010-2011. South looks to Junior [player_tooltip player_id='201876' first='Abbie' last='Lucas'] and a host of talented youngsters, while North is led by Juniors [player_tooltip player_id='239356' first='Mia' last='Robbennolt'] (12.6p, 7.3r, 2.2a) and [player_tooltip player_id='239355' first='Ava' last='Reitmeyer'] (9.9p, 3.8r), plus Sophomore transfer [player_tooltip player_id='366802' first='Kenli' last='Sullivan'] (9.7p, 7.9r).

Overview: Sectional #14 was also affected by a little reshuffling of schools, and it is home to 2022 Class 4A State Runner-Up Franklin Community. Despite a major turnover from last year's starting lineup, they are still a favorite to advance. The Grizzly Cubs have a strong Junior group with three years of major Varsity experience. Senior [player_tooltip player_id='300067' first='Kyndell' last='Jochim'], along with Juniors [player_tooltip player_id='177336' first='Scarlett' last='Kimbrell'], [player_tooltip player_id='176408' first='Lauren' last='Klem'], [player_tooltip player_id='326479' first='Erica' last='Buening'], and [player_tooltip player_id='455947' first='Brooklyn' last='York'] give Franklin skill, talent, height, length, and tremendous perimeter shooting from nearly every position. They are 3-0 against Sectional competition, with no spread less than 19 points. East Central, Columbus North, and Columbus East have been highly competitive over the years as well. East Central and Columbus East are led by 2022 Indiana Junior All-Stars [player_tooltip player_id='59784' first='Josie' last='Trabel'] (21.1p, 10.0r, 3.3a, 2.7s) and [player_tooltip player_id='127236' first='Saige' last='Stahl'] (26.6p, 9.8r, 3.2s), respectively. Columbus North has a nice young nucleus but still lean on Senior [player_tooltip player_id='127215' first='Lauren' last='Barker'] (14.5p, 2.9r, 2.0a) for leadership. Even Shelbyville and Whiteland have posted winning records this year. Senior [player_tooltip player_id='127221' first='Kylee' last='Edwards'] (20.7p, 8.1r, 3.8s) and Junior [player_tooltip player_id='572814' first='Ava' last='Wilson'] (17.6p, 5.2r, 3.4s) have been key for the Golden Bears, while Whiteland Junior Gwen Higdon (13.1p, 4.8r) has put together a breakout season. I like Franklin a lot, but East Central could pose a real problem for the Grizzly Cubs.

Overview: The home to Bedford North Lawrence, Sectional #15 titles have been tough to tear away from the Lady Stars over the years, and they'll be a favorite this time around as well. The Stars have turned to a strong backcourt for leadership. 2022 Indiana Junior All-Star [player_tooltip player_id='59766' first='Karsyn' last='Norman'] (17.2p, 4.5r, 4.5a, 2.6s), along with talented Junior [player_tooltip player_id='176409' first='Chloe' last='Spreen'] (19.8p, 5.5r, 3.7a, 2.8s), are as good as it gets in Indiana. Junior [player_tooltip player_id='177308' first='Madisyn' last='Bailey'] (7.6p, 4.4r, 3.3a, 2.8s) is a third skillful perimeter option, while Senior [player_tooltip player_id='574554' first='Mallory' last='Pride'] (10.2p, 7.5r) has come up huge at times this season. Jennings County rates out as the second-best team in the field, per Sagarin Ratings, but the Lady Panthers unfortunately drew Bedford. They have given the Stars some great games in recent meetings, and I'd anticipate next Tuesday night's battle to be just that...a battle. Junior [player_tooltip player_id='177362' first='Juliann' last='Woodard'] (22.3p, 12.9r, 3.4a, 2.5s, 2.5b) has been a monster inside the arc, while rookie [player_tooltip player_id='486508' first='Mollie' last='Ernstes'] (12.3p, 3.3r, 2.8a) has put together a fine Freshman season. From there, Jeffersonville has had a really nice season, and they possess a deep and talented backcourt capable of defeating anyone here on any given night. Senior [player_tooltip player_id='510363' first='Brooklyn' last='Carter'] (11.4p, 4.0r) has really stepped up for the Lady Red Devils. Silver Creek, new to Class 4A, and Seymour have also posted winning records this year. Silver Creek turns to a strong core of underclassmen, while Seymour has Junior [player_tooltip player_id='177357' first='Kendall' last='Sterling'] leading the way.

Overview: Over the years, Sectional #16 hasn't really overwhelmed. Yes, Castle has typically been good, North Side has been very competitive as of late, and you'll occasionally get another program with a winning record. This year, four teams have winning records, Reitz has posted double-digit wins for the second consecutive season (something the Lady Panthers haven't done since 2001-2002 & 2002-2003; Junior [player_tooltip player_id='264115' first='Norah' last='Miller'] has been huge for them), plus Jasper has already won five more games than a year ago, under a new head coach. This Sectional could be very exciting this year, as Evansville-area basketball has obviously improved in Class 4A. Castle is undefeated against Sectional competition, and the Lady Knights look to a strong backcourt of Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='324084' first='Jordan' last='Scott'] (12.6p, 2.2r, 2.8a) and Senior [player_tooltip player_id='127216' first='Devyn' last='Barton'] (10.0p, 4.4r, 2.4s). In addition, Junior [player_tooltip player_id='239354' first='Aleyna' last='Quinn'] recently returned from an injury, and she gave the Knights great minutes a season ago, so she provides another scoring threat plus experience. Central played Castle tough this year, plus the Bears knocked off North earlier in the season. They have a nice, young group, led by Freshman [player_tooltip player_id='492324' first='Madalyn' last='Shirley'] (10.9p, 7.5r, 2.5b). Her skill and ability at her size make her unique in the Pocket City. North graduated a great deal of production, but the Senior frontline tandem of [player_tooltip player_id='96092' first='Jalyn' last='Shelby'] (19.7p, 6.2r, 2.6a, 2.3s) and [player_tooltip player_id='328917' first='Amiyah' last='Buchanan'] (11.6p, 9.9r, 2.0a) create matchup problems for most opponents. I'd still favor Castle here, but Central and North can each win the week as well.
