Mary Bridget has flown under the radar for too long.. her talent, aggression and the way she stays so poised on the court is amazing to look at. This past season she was one of the main heads of the Class 3A State Champions (Nazareth), and what she brings to the team cant go unnoticed. A 36 spot jump was more than earned. She plays both sides of the court with the same intensity, has no agenda and just knows how to blend in with any type of players. This is type of player that will excel at the next level. Also, excited to see her with Chicago Hoops Express this upcoming circuit season, she will make an immediate impact to already top tier program.
This wasn’t one of those “stuck in the moment” moves.. Froebe has earned every thing that comes her way, and especially the Number 1 spot. Multiple high stat box games this season, in which she scored 40 plus twice. (40 point triple double during the MLK tourney, and a 45pt/15reb game at State in her first game..) I truly believe if Kloe lands in the right situation at the next level, she will continue her dominance. Players who have the world in their palm, but remain centered and focused tend to pan out very well to say the least. AAU circuit will show more of that.
If the length and height are there, but the skillset isn’t dominant.. most bigs aren’t given the credit. Manthy has the length, height, the shooting touch too potentially be a serious problem in Illinois. On the low block, you see flashes of what Annika could truly be, and then when she gets to the free throw line, and you see how smooth her form is, you can only think of great stretch 4/5s who are in college that Annika could mirror. Kitts and Brink come to mind, especially if the off the court work stays consistent.

Coming in a number two, there’s no doubt why Hargrove had the 5 spot leap. She was a focal point on a team that made it to state, and she left her imprint on both games. Her skillet is so smooth, that the game seems to come to her with ease. She is money in the midrange, and has the soft touch around the rim that every stretch big needs to be effective. Amiah seems to be very quiet, but is a great teammate on that court and bench. (Ex. one of her teammates came to the bench visibly upset after their state loss, and Hargrove immediately started to let her know it was okay, but just rubbing her back, barely any words). Things like that should never go unnoticed. A top talent in this state for sure.
A top tier Coach was in the building for the State Tourney, and when the Coach was asked “who are you here for?”, they immediately said “Guyton”. I can understand why. Aaliyah is all that plus more. Her ability to create for herself just as well as she can for others, its a plus from any high caliber guard. She can score on levels, defend from baseline to baseline, and can switch in and out of Alpha/Beta without a drop of impact. Handles are strong, vision is clear and the game seems to be in slow motion for her. A big AAU season coming up for Guyton, and i believe she’ll continue to same dominance that she displayed at State.
Kids say they play hard, but i don’t think any of them that I’ve seen.. play as hard as Carlson. The running joke is always, what’s the over/under on how many times Brooke hits the floor in a game.. and it isn’t because she’s clumsy. Carlson has no problem chasing anything down.. every loose ball is a chance for another possession for Brooke, and she plays every possession like its her last. This is the type of kid that will run through a wall, jump over a bench and the scorers table for a program, while still being the best player on the floor. A three level scorer, and a multi position defender who’s just quick, aggressive, and wants to win more than anyone on the court. 3 spot leap for the D1 recruit.
The new Redbird commit, has been the talk of Southern IL for some time. A tremendous amount of scoring accolades matched with some solid team success. Nelson can get it going off her first 3 made shots, or even after the first one. She honestly a perennial three level scorer. Her leap into the top 15 was solidified before the commitment to Illinois State, and when she returns the floor next year.. shell once again show why she’s a top guard in this state.
Making her way into the top 10.. Molly has progressed at such an alarming rate that probably has gone unnoticed. When a majority of players start to get a bulk of offers come in.. they tend to slow up on the work. Not Molly. She has added so much to her game in such short amount of time.. maybe those skills have been there and they’re just own show now.. nevertheless she’s a stretch 5.. that can legitimately score from the arc to the block. Her role in Barrington success this year was evident, and she will continue that same type of dominance for the famed Wolverinas ‘ last=”]’ last=”] ball club this circuit season.
From a statistical standpoint, you can clearly see why Denver is still one of the top guards in the state, no matter where she’s located. The versatility to remain true to who she is as an outside threat, but still show the ability to get into the crowded area and still score over or around the defense are huge keys to her success as well. She’s scratching 6 feet, and still has the agility to adapt to the pace of the game as well. A strong upcoming AAU season is in store for Anderson, definitely looking to see more of her in person, and not just through the screen.

The accolades Davis has racked up this HS season isn’t the reason for her jump in the rankings, it’s truly what she’s able to do without the ball that continues to impress me. With the ball she’s a bucket, a killer and outright hard to deal with. Without the ball, she’s the same thing. She knows how to get open, get her teammates open.. while still impacting the game. Her ceiling is high, and the move to Illinois Elite will bring much more attention to her and her high level skillset.

Palmer still remains one of my favorite players to watch in the state. I appreciate the non flashy or overly athletic players because they truly have to work on their skill to be impactful. Palmer does just that.. impact the game. She plays at her own pace, own speed, her own rhythm.. and the All State First team nomination was a showing of it. 1k points to end her junior year as well, and I don’t see her progression slowing down anytime soon. She brings so much versatility to the program she plays for. Excited to see what she does this summer.
