Lindsey Davis Lindsey Davis 5'8" | SG Nodaway Valley | 2024 State IA
The Nodaway Valley guard led all juniors in scoring this season, with over 25 points per game. Davis has a way of creating space for her shot and getting to her spots off the dribble consistently. Davis was one of the best all-around players in 2A this season, and she contributed to every aspect of the game for the Wolverines. She’s been able to help her team compete for a few years at a high level and helped the Wolverines win their conference with an undefeated record.
Yazmeen Whitsitt Yazmeen Whitsitt 5'8" | PG Decorah | 2024 State IA
I love Whitsitt’s confidence when the ball gets into her hands. She had a few outrageous shot attempts in the 4A quarterfinal game against Ballard and was hitting those shots regularly. Her ability to stretch the floor can change games, and it had Ballard on its heels in the early going of that game. Her shooting will draw the attention of some competitive programs if it hasn’t already. Shooters like her won’t go unnoticed for long.
Kamryn Kurt Kamryn Kurt 5'6" | PG North Linn | 2024 State IA
Guards with poise always look great when they’re themselves, and Kurt is no different. She’s unflappable and always makes the right basketball decision, and makes her teammates into the best version of themselves. Kurt knows her personnel well and understands when, where, and how to get her teammates the ball to give them the best chance at success. All this doesn’t even touch on how talented Kurt is in putting the ball in the basket herself. She’s a deadly shooter and does a good job navigating traffic to get to the rim.
Alliyah Thompson Alliyah Thompson 6'1" | SF Ballard | 2024 State IA
Kids who can shoot, move their feet, defend the paint, switch onto guards, play with their back to the basket, and has the size Thompson does are at a premium. She was one of the most impressive kids at the state tournament. Her ability to affect the game in multiple ways without scoring the ball jumped out. She blocked a bunch of shots and altered countless others. Thompson also showed she could take some defenders off the dribble, which displayed how versatile she is and how much potential she has going forward.
