The kids I’ll mention may not be the names that jump out immediately, but they put a solid individual season together and helped their team improve throughout the year.
Morgan Miller Morgan Miller 5'9" | PG Iowa City Regina | 2025 State IA
The Regina Catholic guard contributed to every aspect of the game for the Reagals. Miller scored 17 points per game, grabbed four rebounds, and dished out three assists per game this season. Miller was the kid who helped her Reagal team earn a Region Title and helped lead her team to a birth to the state tournament. Although they fell in the state quarterfinals, it does mean something that she helped get her group to Wells Fargo this season.
Divine Bourrage Divine Bourrage 6'0" | CG Davenport North | 2025 State IA
You won’t find a more young and talented team in Iowa than Davenport North. Bourrage is one of the most significant pieces in the state for any team over the next two seasons. The sophomore duo of Bouragge and Journey Houston Journey Houston 5'11" | CG Davenport North | 2025 State IA broke through and made the state tournament. Although it didn’t go as planned, this might be the beginning of a run over the next few seasons. All that loss did was make that group hungrier for more postseason success. I couldn’t be more excited to see what Davenport North does over the next few seasons.
Claire Lueken
The Golden Eagles nearly made some noise at the state tournament because of their forwards. Lueken scored on the interior and battled through contact to help her team stay in the game against Solon. Leuken is strong and does a good job doing her work early and getting seals on her closest defender to help give her guards an angle to pass and for her to score after she catches the ball. She does all the little things that make post-players successful well.
Reagan Pagniano Reagan Pagniano 5'7" | SG Pleasant Valley | 2025 State IA
After winning a state title, I’m not sure I can talk enough about how well the Pleasant Valley guards played. Pagniano made some big free throws late and closed the state title game. She is sure-handed with the ball, and you could tell her teammates trusted her to get herself out of tricky situations when athletic teams brought pressure on the ball. She isn’t the flashiest player in the world, but she maximized each Spartan possession this year, and it helped get them to, and win, a state title game.
