Continue ReadingAaliyah Riley Aaliyah Riley 5’7″ | PG Johnston | 2024 State IA was one of the best overall guards I saw compete on the floor this year. She is a talent that may not stand out with her athletic abilities but her basketball skill is truly next level. A great example of this was in the state championship game, Riley was the floor general the Dragons needed to stay in it. She scored 23 points of her teams total 56 in the contest and made most of their big shots down the stretch. Right now she is receiving some interest from some well known mid-majors but I expect this interest to keep on growing before she graduates. She is a nice player, with an experienced game and good head on her shoulders. She will definitely be helping a college program out their become more successful in the near future.
Lindsey Davis Lindsey Davis 5’8″ | SG Nodaway Valley | 2024 State IA keeps moving up on this list and its really easy to see why. Davis, a player with an act of putting the ball in the hoop at an extreme rate, showed off her ability on both sides of the floor this season. Stacking up some major numbers on offensive and taking care of buisness on defense to help her team put together a rather successful year. Davis isn’t committed to anywhere as of yet but I expect her interest and offers to really ramp up over this summer. A player who has all the basketball skill you could ask for, nice size at around 5’8/5’9, and dynamic leader that will do anything to see her team win. This is a receipe for a great player at the next level in the right situation. Whoever lands her is getting a steal out of this class.
Highlights
While Dike was on the way to winning another state championship at the 2A level, the Petersen sisters showed why they are such a dynamic duo on the floor together. Jadyn is the guard player out of the two, while Peyton is the post presence but don’t let it fool you, Jadyn was one of the best rebounding guards I got to watch play this season on the varsity floor. This showed all throughout the regular season and into the playoffs. She makes a lot of things happen because of her hustle. She scores a good amount of her points off of rebounding the ball against her opponent while not being afraid to be physical. Jadyn gets a big bump in this players rankings update and will have the chance to rise even more before the end of her high school career. A career is going to go down in the record books over her 4 seasons at Dike-New Hartford high school.
When you speak about the Solon Spartans and women’s basketball you get the name Callie Levin Callie Levin 5’10” | PG Solon | 2024 State IA . Levin, the U of Iowa women basketball commit, is the real deal and the headlining name for this group, but following close behind her is Hailey Miller Hailey Miller 5’8″ | SG Solon | 2024 State IA . Miller all season was this groups “X” factor. Not down playing the production of Levin but someone needs to be there to help her out in tough situations or games that she is not preforming the best, that someone was Miller. Miller played every game with her emotions on her sleeve and balled out. She is a solid talent that does a lot of good on the floor. She can score at all three levels, pass well, and rebound. On defense she is good at commmunicating through the opposing offenses action while always knowing where the ball is. This Spartan group is going to have another good chance to make it back to the state tournament for Miller’s senior season, a goal i’m sure she has had on her mind for awhile now.
