Tafolla, a 5’8 shooting guard, lives up to her positions name as she can make it rain from deep. Some games she is unconscious from behind the arc, or moreso, from the field in general. She understands how to catch with her hands ready and feet set, itching to let it fly when she gets the chance. Her form and shot are impressive. A player with one of the most pure shot forms out of all classes in Iowa. Defensively, she works hard and plays scrappy. She is always willing to get on her teammates to make sure that they are stepping up and playing every position like it’s their last. This winter at Liberty high school Tafolla is going to have one more season to show off what she can do all over the court. A chance she is going to make the most of.

Zoe Ackerman Zoe Ackerman 5’7″ | SG Spirit Lake | 2024 State IA showed up big time last year, while helping her team make it all the way into the state playoffs. Ackerman is a guard who does a little bit of everything. She can knock down three’s off of the catch, moves well down the floor in transition as the 1 or the 2, and can do several different jobs on the court deepening what is asked of her. Last year, the best part of her game other than the obvious was her consistency. Every game she brought it to the other team and shined whenever possible. This season Ackerman is going to have to step up big time as one of only two returning starters from last season. In the offseason she has been working hard and is ready to step up and show everyone what she can do with the spotlight.

Morgan Rees Morgan Rees 5’10” | CG Southeast Polk | 2024 State IA has put together a nice spring season of AAU ball with her Pure Prep team. This has landed Rees in this Players Rankings Update at #53. Rees, a 5’10 combo guard, can play the forward position or a guard position. She has nice length at her size with the ability to spread the floor and put the ball on the floor or to spot up whenever she has a moment. Other than that, she holds her own on the inside of the lane, using her knowledge of the game and her natural reach to score over a lot of other players out there. July is going to be a big month for Rees with her Pure Prep team. Hopefully they can keep putting it together and killing it for the last live period of their high school careers.
Audrey Kosky Audrey Kosky 6’1″ | PF Storm Lake | 2024 State IA is someone who I have not had the chance to see in person but from what I’ve seen on film several times, she deserves to be in this Players Rankings Update at #82. Kosky, a 6’1 power forward/center, didn’t see the floor last year too much with her Storm Lake high school team but that should all change this winter, when she gets the chance to step up and show what she can bring to the table. Her size, strength, and smarts are impressive. With an ample amount of time and the right instruction, she is a player that could really show up this season as one of the better PF/C’s, throughout the entire state. Until then she is going to keep working on her game and making sure that she is ready for when the moment presents itself.

Sydney Hodges Sydney Hodges 5’11” | SF Johnston | 2024 IA slides in the #92 spot in this Update because of her ceiling when looking forward. Hodges didn’t get to see the floor really last season with her Johnston high school team because of how good they were. A team that lost by 2 in the 5A state championship game, kept a tight ship all season long while beating their opponents. They didn’t play too many off of their bench at a consistent rate because of how well the players on the floor were doing. Not to mention that most of them are currently bright futures in basketball at the division 1 level. I expect Hodges to get more of a shot this season. A team that is going to be the 5A favorites again this upcoming year is going to have to stay on the gas and stay efficient. If they do that and players like Hodges can step up consistently, the Johnston Dragons will be having a season to remember come this winter.
