This team is loaded with talent from Southern Virginia, and they have a lot of young names to watch. The names listed are girls I’ve seen play the most, but the other girls not listed are fantastic and worth checking out.
Asia Keels Asia Keels 5’3″ | PG Deep Creek | 2026 State VA is one of the best guards in her class. She is an excellent ball-handler and a high-IQ player. When she gets downhill, her best ability is finding open cutters or wide-open players under the basket. Asia isn’t the biggest, so she does a great job of getting low and driving by whoever is guarding her. She is fearless and has everything you want out of a PG.
Rising Freshman Nevaeh Reid Nevaeh Reid 5’5″ | PG Menchville HS | 2027 State VA has serious potential to be an elite two-way player. Nevaeh is quick, and hard to stay in front of 1v1. You see her constantly blow by her defenders and find open teammates with her passing ability. Nevaeh is strong and about as tenacious on defense as you can get. She is an absolute competitor; if you look for intensity, she’s a player to watch.
Kelsey Rhyne is one of the best players in North Carolina, and she has a laundry list of accomplishments already. She’s a pretty complete offensive player, but her shooting ability makes her elite. She is one of the best shooters in the country, and she’s the kind of player where you need more than one player to guard her. The whole team must be locked in because she’s lethal if she gets any space. Her driving ability is great, too. She is a crafty finisher and looks more than comfortable attacking the rim.

Maya Land-Dailey
Catholic Point guard Maya Land-Dailey is another solid PG this team has. She is pretty small, but you forget that when you watch her. She is all over the court, defensively racking up steals and making her presence felt. She finds ways to consistently finish around the rim, even being undersized. Her shooting is a real asset, and like any good PG, her ball handling and passing are fantastic.
Savannah Whitley possesses my favorite combination for bigs. Size and energy automatically make you a useful big. Savannah has the size at 6’1, and she has a fantastic motor. This makes her excellent on the glass on both ends, and she’s starting to develop in additional ways. Her jump shot is coming along, and she looks much more dangerous around the basket. If she keeps improving, she will be a big name to watch.
Rising Freshman Justice Brown-Jones Justice Brown-Jones 6’1″ | CG Norfolk Christian | 2027 State VA had a phenomenal first season of Varsity basketball. She was the leading scorer on an excellent Norfolk Christian team and was arguably their best player. Justice’s size as a guard allows her to be versatile. Boo Williams has a lot of talented ball handlers, and I see her play off the ball a lot as a spot-up shooter, which she does very effectively. Her height allows her to get shots over players in both the mid-range and deep. Justice is a big name to watch in the future.
