It’s only a starting point for rankings and the list will grow and change with each coming update but we have enough information to start our 2027 rankings. Here’s a look at the number six through ten prospects in the class.
Asia is a smooth ball handler who is capable of getting to the rim about whenever she wants to and is a good enough three point shooter to keep defenders honest. A quick first step is her biggest asset right now as Carner is able to get past defenders and consistently makes good reads as far as if she should look to score or pass. If she continues to invest in the defensive end, Asia will be a top player in this class, long term.
Maggie is a top small school player in the state in this class and one of the top young players in the always competitive 10th region. More effective as a driver than as a pure shooter right now, Simons’ shooting will only get better as she gets stronger. Her mechanics aren’t bad so she has a good base to start from. Keep an eye out for Simons as she could quietly make a push towards the top of these rankings over time.
Highlights
Full disclosure, Pernell was my second favorite player I saw at our freshman showcase earlier this month and I could argue she should be higher up the rankings list. Regardless, Brynli is a highly skilled guard that can play on or off the ball and has a pure stroke from way behind the three point line. Long term, I’d like to see Pernell stop settling for so many threes and get to the rim more. She’s shoots twos and threes at a 1:1 ratio and that should change to increase her scoring efficiency.
Brown is part of a very talented 2027 class for Great Crossing (if our freshman showcase is any indication) and could be the best of the bunch. Adrianna plays hard and with a little bit of an edge to her. She’s a good three point shooter in catch and shoot opportunities and a good finisher at the rim, even through contact. She needs to not settle for threes off the dribble for now but that part of her game will come with time.
Makiyia is a tenacious on ball defender and a solid point guard who plays hard. Wheeler has good floor vision and is a willing passer. She doesn’t force her own offense and take a ton of bad shots. Franklin County has had some great point guards over the years and she could be next.
